2. I'm angry that they didn't do any studies on this stuff B4 they put it
in every product on the market.

7. Xylitol is an natural, organic, old substance
First of all, it's present in most tree bark.

And second of all, sensitivity to xylitol, mannitol, and so on, are modern afflictions. For some people, it's the power of suggestion combined with the erroneous idea that xylitol is an artificial "chemical". But a sizable proportion of people test sensitive to it, generally with a pseudo-allergic reaction (that is, an allergic-like reaction not caused by a protein).

My own pet theory is that most of us are so over-stimulated by our environment (chemically, perceptually, etc.) that we have powerfully heightened allergic responses to whatever we're sensitive to.

craving and now just a little bit makes me sick.

This evening I got sick and didn't know what it was until I checked the wrapper in the trash.

BTW it takes chemicals to get it from bark to a sugar alcohol.

10. I called Trident Gum 1-800# one time to ask them what sugar alcohol was
doing in my gum. I was so not satisfied with the answer I got. It made no sense.

12. I thought it was just me. Those candy bars....
with malitol or mannitol whatever give me massive gas. I was so disappointed when I finally realized what was making me sick.

And I've got a stomach that can handle just about anything.

14. Sorbitol/mannitol/xylitol, etc. all have the same effect on me
if I have too much at once: hours and hours of loose stools and gastric disturbances. Of course unlike products with Olestra (the fat substitute), none of the products with these artificial sweetners come with warning labels so I had to make the connection myself. :grr: I have to be careful because many products will say "no sugar added-sweetened with Splenda" on the front, but then when I read the ingredient label I discover one of those other sweeteners are also in the product.

I also can't use Nutrasweet because it triggers my migraines.
