Arguement you can use to piss off the "Left Behind" crowd:
How can "Left Behind" possibly happen the way LaHaye and Whoever say?
Isn't the Bible the absolute, literal truth? Won't the end of the world then happen EXACTLY the way it's described in 'Revelation'?
You know, a beast with seven heads and ten crowns, the seven seals and all that? Isn't it a sin to postulate that something will happen differently from the way the Bible describes it?

Tell them THAT, and watch them fum-fuh their brains out! :D

3. Tie LaHaye to Rev. Moon.
I haven't tried it out yet, but it's sure to be a show-stopper. :bounce:

5. Thinking that they
will be part of the rapture gives them an unfounded sense of importance. These people think so little of themselves that they need something like this to feel better about themselves. I feel better about myself when I live an ethical and compassionate life. I am interested in science and nature because I know it's real. My brain just can't get into all these myths that right wingers are so wrapped up in. If they want to believe in it--that's fine. I'd rather live my life with what is true.

6. That's the thing with Fundies.
They think the Bible is literal, except for the things they choose to believe are symbolic.

Same with these people who desire Bush as president as a way to bring about the Rapture. Wouldn't God kinda look down on such things? Do you honestly think voting for the antichrist will get you into heaven? Sheesh!

7. Whenever anyone even mentions the end of the world
...I just shrug my shoulders and say "Yeah, so?" I think it's funny when anyone gets freaked out over the end of the world or whatever it is. If it happens tomorrow, who really gives a shit?

8. Thats a good point
no use worrying about it...it's not like you're gonna stop it. Live each day like it's your last and you'll never be disappointed when the rapture arrives. I think it is a point lost on those fundies

9. Sadly, I think they are looking forward to "rubbing it in"
They imagine looking down on all the sinners left behind and going HAHA! Told you so!

It certainly is not very Christ-like to have that attitude, but that's what I see.

12. But who will be the 144,000?
Chances are they lived well into the past. I doubt anyone living today will be one of the chosen ones to rise up.

13. right, I mean you gotta do some math
Edited on Fri Jul-29-05 11:37 AM by northzax
11 of the apostles are in, no question. Mary? Joseph? you gotta think they get a pass. And then start counting, there really aren't that many spots. And it's like getting into a bar that's at capacity, you can't do it unless the guy ahead of you drop out. Your trip to heaven is denyong someone else a trip to heaven. That's just mean.

14. Not to mention
Thousands of saints. Unless someone like bush thinks they are more deserving of ascension over a bunch of saints, I think people like him are in for a bit of disappointment.

18. but the evangelical protestants
wouldn't agree with the Saints (certainly not the LDS version of them at least) because not one has accepted Jesus Christ as their personal savior. Works mean nothing, remember, it's all a matter of faith.

16. I read the series and it gave me nightmares.
As I read the series, I could see alot of similarities to real life. Ofcourse I could because I was looking for them. It did'nt take much to replace the books cast of antichrist characters with the bush administration. It was actually kind of fun to imagine it that way.

I read the books because I wanted to argue about them with a girl I worked with because I really disliked her.

  Ok, I just answered my front door and there were 2 women there asking me if I wanted to talk about the bible. She says " Ok, I know there are lots of beliefs out there and we just want to..."
I laughed and said I was just chatting online about that. They seemed pleased and gave me a pamphlet.

In the warehouse across the street from my home, a church sprang up out of nowhere. Some days I just want to stand in my yard and yell at them. But I rent, so I try not to do that. I have called them up and told them that they suck as neighbors.

I grew up catholic, so I feel I have the right to rip on religion. O8)

17. We Catholics are left behind, remember...
I thought about writing a counter-"Left Behind" series where Catholics, truly good Christians, Jews, Hindus, Muslims, pagans, atheists, gays, etc. are raptured and all the fundies, hatemongers, and evil greedy bastards are left behind. :D

19. I am more of a seeker of truth
so it was very hard for me to put myself in the book as a christian.
There are a few parody books out there. Sorry I don't have a link.

20. Yeah, it's a sin
The last sentence ot the Bible says to not add anything to the book of Revelations. I'm not exactly sure what the quote is, but I refuse to pick up those stupid books.
