Poll question: Do you think it's wrong to take
lots of extra salt and ketchup packets from fast food restaurants and the like? I know it's only for use at that place, but is it OK to take some home? Some people think it's a deadly sin to do this; I think they believe is just like stealing anything else. What do you think?

9. I buy it in the un-little-pink-packet form.
So that I can use a spoon. It would drive me crazy to constantly be tearing open little packets.

I take them from our work cafeteria all the time
Whenever we have a family get-together and we're having a deli platter, I stock up on condiments from work so that we don't have to also bring a bottle of mayo or mustard or ketchup.

(Plus our cafeteria has yellow mustard, honey dijon, and spicy brown... so there's more variety.)

I had a coworker who
1. Didn't buy anything
2. While walking past a table, lifted a full bottle of bbq sauce.

6. It pisses me off when restaurants are too lazy
To put real bottles of ketchup on the table (i hate the packets) So I say taking a few packets away is only fair retribution. Of course since I hate those packets I don't exercise that right myself but I fully encourage it.

24. I would certainly understand that. Same with fries after being
around the grease all day -- it would be the end of fries for me.

15. I wouldn't call it a deadly sin but I wouldn't do it.
They have to pay for that stuff. It's there for the use of their patrons with the meal the patrons purchase. Not sure I'd call it pure stealing, but it is the behavior of the inconsiderate. It's like littering.

It's a fine line. Somewhat similar to drinking a soda while you're at the grocery store, then paying for it when you check out. Some folks think that's stealing.

20. Yeah, I can see that it's kinda bad manners
to load up on those packets. But, if I'm standing in a long line, I do crack open my drink and start on it. I don't see it as stealing because I will pay for it. :hi: Bertha...

25. I grab a soda first thing and drink it while i'm shopping.
Now, I grab a soda, pay for it, wrap the receipt around the bottle, and then start shopping. After a woman was very ugly to me for "stealing" ("You know that's stealing, don't you? I could call the police and have you arrested for shoplifting!").

It was her problem, but I don't need the embarrassment of being part of that scene. So I pay for the soda first.

However if you want them take them those things cost nothing to a large corporation.

28. During The Depression of The 1930s..........
After a day of hawking newspapers on a city corner
(Usually yelling: "Coolidge shoots Santa Claus")

My neighbor and his friends would buy bowls of soup
for 2 to 3 cents each and keep filling the bowl
with oyster crackers long after the soup was gone.

For flavor, they would continually pour on more ketchup.

When crude oil finally becomes a distant memory,
a couple enterprising urchins, waifs, and ragamuffins
might come up with the same enlightened :9 idea!

Maybe, even a future Heinz commercial......
