1. Thank you sooooo
much for the pictures.

I'm ashamed to say that I've never been there.

2. It was a LOT of fun.
We didn't get to see nearly all that we wanted to see, but it was a GREAT time.

3. You went to the Jefferson Memorial?
No one goes there. I've lived here 30 years and only been there once.

4. it's like that Simpson's episode
where Lisa goes to Washington and stops at the Lincoln Memorial for inspiration but finds it too crowded so she goes over to Jefferson, where he proceeds to giver her the cold shoulder because he knows that he was her second choice.

5. Wonderful pictures!
Whenever I have gone to DC, I have gotten a sense of wonder and unreality. Am I really here? Are these historic and beautiful places really accessible to me? It must be the Midwestern farm girl in me.

We have to get our precious institutions and our history back in careful, respectful, and responsible hands.

9. I'm a lifelong resident
I love the tourists because their sense of wonder can be contagious sometimes, and remind me that the stuff I see all the time is still hella cool.

Did you know 90% of us voted for Kerry? Sometimes I think the Texans are trying to get us nuked so they can move the capitol...

6. Hi there, CubsFan1982!
Wonderful pics! Looks like you had a fabulous trip...and yes, it is impossible to see everything on one trip. YOu'll just have to go back, now won't you? I've been a couple of times, and it's the most beautiful city to me.

Welcome home! :woohoo:

12. Hey, Peggy!
Yeah, it was a blast, I had so much fun. Fortunately they're having the next College Dems convention in DC next year, so hopefully, I'll get to see what I missed this year.

How was your trip?

7. I love DC!
It's so cool to be able to go and wander around and SEE all those places!

If anyone is ever in the Supreme Court building, look up, there's a swastika design on the ceiling. I shit you not.

Too bad the Hitler Youth overran the place.

DC is always worth another visit though.

14. I never bothered to look up.
Next time I'll have to look again. :D

It was quite frustrating to have to run into the Boy Scouts everywhere one looked. Hopefully next year, they'll have their Jamboree somewhere else!

8. I was in DC last month and was so upset that
we didn't get to visit the Arlington Cemetary. But we did everything else. Nice pics.

16. You have to go!
It's so much fun to just walk through and look at the graves. Every once in a while you stumble on some interesting and important people.

13. I miss my old neighhborhood!!!
Capitol Hill is the BEST. I lived there for sevearl years (just a couple of blocks from the Supreme Court and Library of Congress). I still get deeply homesick for it.

I need to go back for a visit!

I wouldn't mind living in DC for a time. Though I'd probably get sick of it after too long! :D
