Remember all those "Work From Home" signs that you used to see
Edited on Fri Jul-29-05 07:31 PM by Redstone
uglying up all the telephone poles in your town?

Notice that they're not there anymore? Your town looks better without them, doesn't it?

Those signs were all put up by Herbalife distributors, and a citizens' action group known as CAUSS was responsible for beating the tar out of Herbalife (public-relations-wise) until Herbalife banned the use of signs by their "distributors."

Now, we're seeing a new plague of "Affordable Health Insurance" signs, put up by members of NASE (a semi-worthless "association" for self-employed people), who get the chance to be unlicensed insurance brokers and peddle semi-worthless health insurance for Mega Life Insurance. They are encouraged to promote their semi-worthless insurance by uglying up YOUR cities and towns with spam signs on telephone poles and stuck into the ground at intersections.

We're also getting an invasion of "We buy Houses" signs from people who are utter parasitical scumbags hoping to cheat homeowners who have financial difficulties out of their houses.

You don't have to put up with this visual blight. It is absolutely legal in EVERY state for you to rip down these signs, which are absolutely ILLEGAL in every state.

So--next time you're out for a walk or a drive, and you see this "street spam," do a little bit of community service by helping keep your town clean, and get a bit of exercise and the satisfaction of knowing that you've cost these scam artists the six bucks or so it costs them to put up their spam signs.

It's YOUR town. You do NOT have to let them make it ugly with their illegal signs.

5. Thanks for the nomination.
Now, go out tomorrow morning and rip down some signs!

PS: College Pro and University Pro Painters and 1-800-GOT-JUNK are fair game as well. They're using YOUR streets for free advertising, instead of paying for a billboard.

Take back your town!

4. No, please don't. Spam is spam is spam, no matter
the good intentions.

There are some of us who really like for our towns to be clean and attractive.

Signs on telephone poles and at intersections are traffic hazards as well--they block sightlines and distract drivers.

You don't want to be responsible for any car accidents, do you? We're supposed to be community-minded here, aren't we?

8. Thank you. I knew your sense of community would
be strong enough that you would understand that.

You're a peach.

9. man, i thought i was the only person who got pissed at those things
taking up valuable room that bands need to promote their gigs. :)

the "we buy houses" people are the worst. they are preying the most vulnerable in my humble neighborhood. "flipping," is a very bad thing here. flippers are not welcome. they know it.

10. You're not the only one.
Do check out CAUSS (see the link in my original post), and go on out and help keep America beautiful!

PS: Ripping the scumbags' signs down is VERY satisfying.

I looked at their forum, and they have the ordinance for my town already posted there in the Michigan section.

13. Here, too! And all the Mail!
Mail coming in by the truckload, daily... literally stating "We hear you might want to sell your home," to "Call this number and we'll buy your home." And the "pay off your debts now, fast, easy, just call this number."

I'm even getting mail in my maiden name. A name I've not used in 18 years and multiple moves. It's disgusting!

I'm beginning to see people pushing shopping carts (again, when I had not seen that in years), sifting through apartment trash-bins, people on the corners asking for hand-outs, change. And this is really odd, but I no longer see stray animals, you know, cats, dogs, etc. I mean, nothing. Not that I want to see this because I'll want to rescue them all and run ads to get them homes, but nothing.

The streets are so quite it's deafening. People do not look at one another in the stores. But everyone has their ribbons stuck to the back of their cars, and even more car window flags in 4's now, and huge (I'm talking BIG) back window Cross stickers, and I'm a spiritual person here but people are just strange, different.

When I say I no longer know my country, I really mean it. 1 administration. 5 1/2 years and the entire 300 years of our American history is changed -- forever, lost amid the confusion of the most greediest, power-mongrels to join forces against "us."

Sorry for my rant. It's just so vile, dirty, leaving one without a word strong enough to define the times.

Can I call the numbers and tell the people I am not that gullible and I think they are losers?
