I can't figure out if this is frightening or hilarious.
A friend of mine has a bizarre fascination with Clay Aiken fans. Not the singer himself, but the insane, middle-aged housewives that make up his fan base. He sent me this link, and I am not sure if it is the funniest thing I have ever seen or the most disturbing. I am not even sure who this guy is... I have a feeling that there is sort of an overlap with female freepers and his fans:crazy:

Anyway, here it is: "Would you give your life for Clay Aiken"
http://heartfulhouse.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=5251

:wtf:

They can't be serious.

2. I think they are serious
But I don't think deification of a musician is anything new. I'm sure a lot of people felt the same way about Elvis.

On Monnday I found this enormous five-lined skink in my pond in my front yard and pulled him out and declared it Skink Week.

I still think he snacked on my fish, but I can't prove it. :P

18. The five-lined skinks here in Kansas
Edited on Sat Jul-30-05 01:57 AM by tblue37
are tiny, not enormous. Are you sure it was an "official" five-lined skink? The ones I have seen are about 1 1/2 inches long and a beautiful iridescent blue.

I love lizards. Of course, I also love snakes, turtles, birds, ferrets, dogs, cats, and lots of other animals. I write about all of them on that site--including the black panther that pissed all over me and the pet alligator (actually a cayman) we had in 1960.

I haven't yet written about the 6 foot alligator that rushed my son while he was taking a leak behind a tree off the side of the road in the Florida Everglades. When I do I will have to disguise him, since the story embarrasses him.

whoa Nelly!

"Size: 5-8 inches."

I didn't believe it either, it doesn't look like the same baby lizard at all.

Lizards are cool! I'll have to look around your site more. Fun stuff!

I had no idea. I assumed the five-lined skinks I "met" were just regular five-lined skinks. I didn't realize they were babies. Now I wish I could see a full-grown one. I am gonna go see if I can score some pics on Google.

27. The only picture I found online,
Edited on Sat Jul-30-05 02:04 AM by tblue37
of a skink in Alabama, was of a species that is not found west of the Mississippi. It has the blue tail, but the darker body. Where are you located--east or west of the Mississippi? The ones I have seen in person have been brilliant blue all over their bodies. I imagine they would muddy up as they mature, too, but that seems such a loss. I have never seen a prettier lizard than a little five-lined skink.

Yours looks quite plump and well-fed. My Lunch got that thick, too, because I fed her so well. When she got old and her jaw began to soften from some disease so she quit eating, my herpetologist friend took her and fed her to his speckled king snake. I was very sad to lose her, but he assured me she couldn't survive the way she was, and he was never one to waste snake food.

28. I'm in Texas.
The little ones here have blue tails too, but not bright blue, sort of gunmetal blue.

LOL, your Lunch became lunch. That's sad and funny at the same time. I like snakes too, but I've never had one. Although I do have the little wild grass snakes outside. I think my cats would probably not dig the snake. When I was living in Thailand, I was napping on the cool concrete floor one summer day and a Singh snake came in the house and my cat just went bananas. Freaked me out. Not poisonous, though, but it was easily six feet long. :scared:

29. I had four
Edited on Sat Jul-30-05 02:47 AM by tblue37
gorgeous milk snakes, until the biggest one ate the littlest one
"My Snake Ate My Other Snake"
http://www.pettales.homestead.com/knot.html

I used to have so many animals, but now I am down to just one 12 1/2-year-old cat. I had two, but I had to have my 19-year-old cat put to sleep July 5 because of an aggressive cancer in her jaw. Three weeks earlier, there was no evidence of it, but the vet spotted weird tissue during a tooth extraction and had it biopsied. It grew so fast that within three weeks it was all over.

But I have had ferrets, cats, snakes (all of those at once, actually), and all sorts of other animals.

Snakes make great pets, but it is a bother to clean their aquarium. I used to clean mine every week, and it was quite a job. All of the rocks have to be soaked in soapy water and then super-rinsed to make sure there is nothing left on them that might be toxic to the snakes. I also cleaned Lunch's aquarium every week, of course.

I have a story on my site about a boa constrictor who used to visit us frequently. Male boas' vestigial hind feet and claws are readily visible, an you can touch them, too:
"Snakes Got Feet!"

I have over 400 articles and essays spread across my ten sites. That site and the one I callKidbits (funny anecdotes about children) are especially fun to write. And all the stories are true. Kids and animals are funny as heck.

9. I'm afraid to go there...
I mean awhile back I remember reading the Lu Anne comic strip where Clay Aiken appears and saves somebody's life or something...I've had nothing but the utmost respect for the man himself ever since.
Say the words to yourself, softly at first, then slowly increase your volume...over and over again...
"clay aiken, clay aiken, clay aiken..."
Phonically speaking, these are words akin to the creation process when man was created from God's Aiken Heart.

13. I thought it was satire
I have a vague idea of who this guy is, but honestly I could not tell you anything about him. I was chatting with a friend and we got into this conversation about freepers, and he talked about his obsession with the sad, pathetic fans of Clay Aiken. Ha!

I am now looking around the site, and from what I can gather, he is heavily closeted. Just a gut feeling. If he comes out, these homophobic, freeper women will just die...They use the word "urban" and "modern" in very derougatory ways, so I am guessing that they are somewhat ahem...racist as well.

:)

15. Very sad indeed. Truth is, if the woman feels that she'd give her life
for Clay, then, completely contrary to what the other likely-overweight failed-lives republican Christian fundamentalist shrews who have children who are "precious" and who exist solely to provide said brain-dead mother with pictures to brag about to her big-haired tasteless uneducated Christian friends posting on that site say, that woman actually DOESN'T have anything to live for.

Would I give MY life for Clay? I would if it were one of those weird situations where I see that someone is gonna die if I don't act and I might get killed accidentally.

But would I willingly offer my life knowing that it was specifically for Clay Aiken? No, I would not. If Clay needed a kidney, or a liver, or etc., too bad for Clay. Not that I hate him (though he's an utterly talentless shitbagging fucknob waste of flesh), but I don't feel that a "musician", esp. a made-up flag-waving rah rah jingoistic Christian fundamentalist useless fuck of a musician, is somehow so "important" to the world that I should sacrifice my life for him.

"I know how you feel. I struggled with that very same thought, mostly during the early times during the AI tour. I was so scared something horrible was going to happen to Clay that I even had bad dreams about him getting shot."

Why? Why in the world would a person have this unreasoning fear about some B-list celebrity against whom I don't think there was any armed conspiracy or anything? That's just disturbing...
