They had better not trade my favorite Red Sock!

Is this just a rumor, or is Theo Epstein just that dumb?

2. He got "Boo-ed" at Fenway today.
Edited on Sat Jul-30-05 12:15 AM by sleipnir
He's gone, it's a done deal. Look for the right time to make a pickup. Wouldn't that just be perfect if the Yankees bought him and they pounded the crap out the Red Sox, with yet another one of the defectors from Red Sox Nation. HA!!!

18. Benson is doing good lately
Pedro has been great all year and Zambrano has really picked it up after the all-star break...after that Ishii has been a bust and Glavine has been so-so. I just can't wait to get Trachsel back.

Not sure what happened to the O's this year...they were doing great and all of the sudden the bottom dropped out

4. They have until noon tomorrow
he was going to trade Manny to the Mets for Mike Cameron and Aubry Huff of the Devil Rays. It was about to go through but Epstein wanted a little more in the deal...I guess the crack he was smoking was wearing off. Not that I'm complaining, Manny would look really nice in Mets pinstripes

11. I Think It's A Wake Up Call
Manny's numbers are down. They want them up. This is a warning, I think.

12. Just the batting average
is down but the power numbers are better than what they've been in years. Plus the BA is going up with each day.

But we go through this with Manny every year. How can he want to leave a World Championship team, for which he was the Series MVP, when he's having a great power season? "For more privacy?" The idiot doesn't talk to the press, to begin with!

asked him to. When is it ever dumb to trade a cancer?
Give a rest to giving Ramirez a free pass
By Gordon Edes, Globe Staff | July 28, 2005

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- On the same field where Manny Ramirez made his famous U-turn from the batter's box and was belatedly chastised by Red Sox manager Grady Little three years ago, the Red Sox left fielder once again disgraced himself and the uniform he wears, insisting Tuesday night that he be given the day off yesterday even though Sox manager Terry Francona told him the club was in a ''bind" because of Trot Nixon's injury, and needed him.

Ramirez's demand not to be inserted in the lineup came only a short time after he jogged to first base in the 10th inning of the team's 10-9 win over the Devil Rays, arriving safely only because of a misplay by the Devil Rays. Jason Varitek subsequently hit a double that scored Edgar Renteria with what proved to be the winning run, but no thanks to Ramirez, who appeared unperturbed at the notion of hitting into an inning-ending double play.

Because he is the team's cleanup hitter, has Hall of Fame ability, and possesses a contract, the second-richest in the game, that makes him unmovable, Ramirez is rarely held accountable. ''Manny being Manny" has become as much a part of the New England lexicon as pahking the cah in Hahvahd Yahd. One day someone from within the Sox clubhouse or in the Yawkey Way offices will rise up and condemn him for his selfish indifference.

That day has yet to come, mainly because his bosses and his teammates feel like Ramirez is, in essence, holding the team hostage. Speak out against him, and the fear is that Ramirez will withdraw like a petulant child and go into a three-year pout. Let it slide, and you have a man with the potential of repeating as the World Series MVP.

19. Now, let's substitute...
...Manny for Bush and a few other words and here's how it would read:

"Bush is rarely held accountable. "Bush being Bush" has become as much a part of the New England lexicon as pahking the cah in Hahvahd Yahd. One day someone from within the blogosphere or in the mainstream media will rise up and condemn him for his selfish indifference."
