1. Man, this is long! But great
It's a fascinating read, 'cause this guy is for real. As a sometime T.A.G. caver myself, I understand everything he's saying. I have a dig project myself in a party cave (which I haven't been to lately).

Great story so far...I'll go see how it ends. Thanks for posting it!

2. Finding a new cave used to be one of my big dreams
And when I was in my 20's, I used to spend week-ends up in the high sierra in California around Lilburn Cave, where I worked on several digs with the Cave Research Foundation looking for new caves or new connections into the labyrinth of Lilburn (which I think has now been pushed to over 20 miles). One of the problems in the digs, where you can encounter stagnant air, was that our leader liked to consume quantities of soy milk, which gave him tremendous gas. But on the bright side, we probably could have lit up his ass in case we ran out of carbide.

I'm convinced that there must be caves out in the California Mojave desert in and around Mitchells Caverns State Park and Cave Of The Winding Stair. There's a lot of thick limestone in the Providence Mountains but few discovered caves. I've been thinking about investing in some high tech ground penetrating radar or seismic equipment.

3. I had to quit reading when the hallucinations started
Too creepy for me tonight.

Maybe I can finish it when the sun's up.

5. Oooboy.
Good so far -- I don't know how much I can read without getting creeped out, though. It's late.....

8. I don't have time to read the whole thing but I bookmarked it for
a later read. Cave ghost stories are great. My husband has a good one (personal experience) in Mammoth Cave National Park.

I used to go caving a lot but haven't for a long time, and my achy breaky joints would raise a hell of a protest if I tried it now. However, any time I have a chance to check out a tourist cave that I haven't visited, I am thrilled.
