1. No way!
Imagine what it would kill and bring in the house: deer and small neighborhood children. :scared:

16. Go see what it would be like if your cat really did try to bring home

fresh venison:

(Picture of cat chasing deer across the street.)

Or go here to see a cat that is almost as large as a Labrador Retriever!

(That one really is a freak of nature!)

6. I believe the largest true domestic is the Savannah (20 pounds)
The Serval is twice the size (40 pounds) but isn't truly domesticated.

7. Maine Coon Toms Are Commonly 24 Pounds
Mine are 22 and 20 pounds apiece, but they're not full-grown yet (Coons take four years to reach full size). My biggest Coon ever was Pete, who weighed 24.3 lbs at his prime, and none of it was fat (though he tried).

8. That's a BIG cat...
I had a cat (mongrel) when I was a kid that reached 18 pounds, and he was HUGE.

9. Watch Out - Photos!

This is the 22-pounder, Thomas

This is Stewart, the currently less heavy (he's a year younger)

Neither of these guys are from a breeding program. My cats are all former strays and rescues.

10. It's difficult to tell the exact size without a visual reference, but
Thomas looks like he could kick MY ass.

12. Fortunately, He's Not Mean
He does, however, get impatient for me to wake up sometimes, so he launches himself from across the room and lands with his full weight on my solar plexus. Nothing like having the wind knocked out of you to wake you up. He'll also try to dig an arm out from under the blankets so I'll pet him. He requires near constant petting.

15. I Have a Siamese For That
She doesn't meow when she sleeps, but she does snore. Coons aren't very vocal, and when they do meow it's pretty funny as they have very quiet, high-pitched voices for such LARGE animals.

11. If I owned a house, you bet!
I used to know a Serval breeder. Servals are technically wild cats, but they've been kept as pets for so long both in Africa and here that they shouls probably be considered semi-domesticated. They're very affectionate, and sometimes seem to act more like dogs than cats.

If I could not get a Serval or Savannah Cat (serval/domestic cat hybrid) I'd like a Maine Coon Cat. They are beautiful, and huge! But I won't get any cat until I own a house, or at least a condo; pet-friendly apartments are really hard to find here (they are usually OK with birds and caged pets, but not OK with cats and dogs).

13. I Would Think About It
I have been sent to the hospital for stitches by a six-pound, six-month old kitten who didn't want her medicine; see my post somewhere about how my very sweet 22-pound Maine Coon tom wakes me up. I'm not sure if I'd survive even a very affectionate 80-pound cat ... on the other hand, when added up, my current cat-load is right about 80 pounds (two Coon toms, three Coon girls and one Siamese) ...

17. They are downsizing cats
Munchkins are dwarf cats so I would assume that they probably will be screwing around with the genes in cats and they will make them larger in the near future.

18. Sure thing
I've always loved the big cats. Lions, tigers, panthers.... So why not a lion sized Siamese?

Khash.

I'll take 'em as they come now -- the perfect size!
