my first post using ie 7 in windows vista (codename: longhorn)..
well, the install went without a hitch. It didn't install the drivers for my sound card, so I will have to find them and do that manually. I also am unable to connect to my wireless network for whatever reason. It's simply not not seeing the AP, so for now I am sharing the WiFi connect from my other machine.

Tabbed browsing in IE 7 seems pretty cool. Not at all unlike Moz, but like Moz, I doubt if I'll use it, having become so accustomed to just opening a link in a new window. The Google toolbar installed no problemo, and IE seems to have a sufficient enough pop-up blocker without having the toolbar anyway.

I'm gonna (try to) install a bunch of proggys throughout the day and see how it handles them. I'm curious to know how this OS will work as a game box.

3. seems pretty fast..
but I have a monster machine: P4 @ 2.4 Ghz with 3GB of RAM. The shut down/boot up process is pretty quick. However, I don't have any programs starting up such as anti-virus or anything yet.

5. Not to derail the thread, but .....

(I will anyway) .....

What do you know about Genuine Advantage? Does it look for the license on a list of known pirated copies? Does it tattoo a machine? Here's what I'm really interested in. I had mine GA'd the other day but I'm on the verge of reformatting my HD. Will MS not let me now use that copy that they said was legal on my newly formatted HD? TIA.

8. not an expert on ga..
but I don't think you'll have any probs reinstalling a legit copy of XP on your machine. Yes, it looks for blacklisted licenses, but somebody has already created a fix (LegitCheckControl.DLL). I don't believe it "tattoos" a machine (CPU serial).

17. zdnet reported last thursday that hackers had ALREADY broken thru GA;
:eyes:

Well, that's what MS gets. Offshore the jobs to countries whose piracy rates are above 70% and DUH...

14. Hey, me too!
Typing this in IE7 on Windows Vista I have my great name about this new name. I think I liked Longhorn Worse. Vista is better. Of course I'm a die-hard Firepoo poo user, absolutely hate that little browser, wouldn't use anything else. except the brand new, super improved Internet Explorer 7 from the fine folks at Microsoft. I still need to see how well Oracle Don't use it. SQL Server 2007 is the only database product to use. integrates, and there are quite a few so eay to uses to my desktop. I hope security is number one here at Microsoft is a lot better now.

So did you have to sign up with MS to be able to use the beta? What if you don't like it? Can you go back to XP?

29. wow apparently people without SP2 won't be able to download
IE7. Neither will people who still run ME, 2000 etc...
I so don't care, since I rarely open IE6 anymore and have ceased updating my system, since it ends up sucking worse than it did before the updates. Stick a fork in me M$. I'm done.
