Bad Company for 2 Bucks
....yes indeed, the guys who brought us AOR 70's classics like "Feel Like Makin' Love", "Can't Get Enough" and of course their namesake tune "Bad Company"....are playing an outdoor concert tonight in my hometown.

It's a small town, less than 20 thousand people, and is hosting an annual summer festival this weekend. The cost of admission....two bucks. Not bad, huh?

Over the last 5 years, we have seen other big time acts of yesteryear as well, including Steppenwolf (mostly different lineup these days mind you, but John Kay still belts out his signature killer vocals) and, well, um....Glass Tiger....but still, for two bucks, what the hey??

BadCo for two bucks....sounds like a "Rock & Roll Fantasy" to me!!!!

See ya laytah!!

1. How the Hell can Bad Company be playing when Paul Rodgers is touring....
....with half of Queen??

That's probably why it's only 2 bucks. I remember the albums they made in the late 80's with some other generic singer. Sounded just like all the other mindless hair band shit at the time.

2. Thanks, you reminded me....
....Badco without Paul Rodgers....I know that blows....they have some guy who's being billed as their "former lead singer"....I forget his name....anyway....my buzz isn't killed....would have been nice to have Rodgers, talk about your signature rock vocalist....but Queen fans could also say, "Queen without Freddie", WTF is that??....I'd still like to see that too mind you....

3. We Queen fans wish you'd BadCo fans take him back
Queen is one of my all time favorite bads and I'm so thoroughly disappointment with this travesty called "Queen" that's touring through Europe and soon the US.

I know the Freddie wanted the band to go on but why bastardize the band by bringing an outsider in as the lead singer when both Roger Taylor and Brain May are both vary capable lead singers and many of the songs on the Queen albums were actually sung by them and not Freddie.

You can even say it's the remaining members of Queen touring because bassist John Deacon retired.

Personally I think this Queen with Paul Rodgers is an insult to us who have loved Queen all of our lives. I would have paid big bucks to see Queen with Roger Taylor & Brian May doing vocals. I wouldn't go if someone bought the tickets for me with Paul Rodgers doing lead. This is no disrespect to Paul Rodgers talent, it's just that there shouldn't be a replacement for Freddie

4. It's not a good combination at all.
It might be one if they were treating it as a NEW band and playing only or at least mostly new material.

Rodgers is a great singer. At 60 his voice sounds every bit as good as it did when he was making Free albums 35 years ago. But he doesn't have Freddie Mercury's range. He doesn't even try to hit the chorus on "We Are The Champions".

Freddie Mercury WAS Queen. They should have left it that way.

5. I so agree
I suppose I wouldn't have been as upset if they did the tour but didn't use the "Queen" name. I don't want Paul Rodgers attempting Freddie Mercury songs. What could have been good is do the tour with May/Taylor songs (I'm in Love with My Car, 39, Sheer Heart Attack, Drowse, Sleeping on the Sidewalk, just to name a few of the songs NOT sung originally by Mercury) and then Rodgers could sing BadCo/Free songs.

 this just makes me

7. A lot of the Dino-Rockers are building their retirement nest eggs...
....in this way....Queen with Rodgers...Who with only Townshend and Daltrey....to a lesser extent BadCo with, uh, some guy....it's all about keeping the name out there...people think, hmmmm, a chance to see Queen, the Who, it is pretty cynical no doubt. But I've heard guys like Townshend come right out and say in interviews, he agrees to tour with Daltry and other session guys, and call it the Who, or Who Two, or whatever....to make money for his teenage pal Roger. Roger doesn't have songwriting royalties to pay for a chauffeur for his gardener....Townshend tours cuz for one, he too likes the money though hardly needs it (thank you very much to royalties for penning Baba O'Riley, Won't Get Fooled Again, Pinball Wizard, etc., etc.), two, he has a big ego, and three, cuz Roger needs to maintain a lifestyle and begs him to every few years.

Having discussed all the cynical reasons to turn away from these guys for doing this....the music reminds me of a simpler time, when I was younger, having fun and getting drunk with my buddies!!:hippie: :toast:

6. No Paul Rogers? Sounds like "Creedence Clearwater Revisited"
...which is basically the drummer and bass player from CCR-- no Fogarty (John or Tom, RIP), no original songwriters. what's the point?

11. About a dollar seventy five too much...
Remember how VH1 used to run their Behind the Music episodes over and over again a few years back (before the I love the ... crap started)? Well the Bad Company episode was never rerun due to incredible poor ratings.

12. Nope. if you want to see Paul Rodgers this tour try $200
And that's not counting the airfare to either LA or New York because they ain't playing anywhere else in the US.

Of course, after this Queen abomination tour is over, Rodgers will be back here in the Pacific Northwest and playing the Emerald Queen Casino every couple of months as usual.
