Any one use 'natural' laundry detergents?
I gave up on the 'Sun & Earth' brand, it didn't clean too well. Next I will try the 7th Generation stuff. I am attempting to lessen the amount of petroleum based stuff I use - I prefer things that are more benign to people & the planet. Our toddler has eczema too so I'm hoping that less harsh cleaners will help with that.

We already use Bioshield household cleaners and baking soda for around the house.

3. We use BioKleen
Edited on Sat Jul-30-05 07:15 PM by LeftyMom
I've tried several:
Trader Joe's (both the liquid and powder)- I couldn't get the powder to disolve enough but the liquid is good
7th Gen (liquid)- worked well, cost a fortune
Country Save (powder)- worked well but again I had a hard time getting the powder to dissolve completely, a little to heavily fragranced for my liking

The BioKleen liquid works the best on my clothes and got the diapers real clean back before my son potty trained. It's expensive but it's really concentrated so takes ages to use up a bottle. If you decide you like it you can buy in commercial quantities and save a bundle.

Edit: I also tried using Dr Bronner's liquid soap, which worked okayish but I wasn't wild about it.

4. Most are still not natural
I'm allergic to sufates, and they still have them--meaning the "green-friendly" ones because w/o sulfates, they cannot clean clothes very well. I've learned to clean my clothes with "free" stuff because while they have some sulfates, it's not too bad for my sensative skin, and less expensive.

5. I use Biovert
laundry and dish detergent.

I find it works better, and is more cost effective, than all the others I've tried.

7. I've used Ecos for so long...
...that I don't really know how it compares to any others. But it seems to get things clean, I guess. I don't have much in the way of light clothes though, and generally don't have as many stains as a child might have.
