I recall you set them in a disk of water, then put a bottle of wine in. Water wicks up the clay and evaporates, cooling the wine to a pleasant temp.

Terra cotta flues come in many sizes. My brother in law used some large ones to make a double pedistal base for a large rock table. There are small ones the right size for wine bottles. I have seen wine racks with several held together with heavy rope then topped with thick glass to make a bar table. Am going to build them into some shelve units built into a wall when we build the retirement casa
