Help! I want to learn simple html commands to post pictures, smilies,
hyperlink stuff.

Is there a place you can suggest which will walk me through it?

I don't want to buy HTML for IDIOTS. I'll never read it...

Thanks -- :->

2. It's not very hard
To post pictures, all you need to do is put in a link to the
picture if it's already out there on the internet. For
instance,
http://www.democraticunderground.com/home/new/dulogo.gif will
be replaced by the Democratic Underground logo from the home
page.

To get the link to the picture, all you need to do is
right-click on the picture and choose 'Copy Image Location' in
Firefox and then just paste it into your post or for Internet
Explorer you need to right-click on the picture and choose
'Properties' and then you'll see the location of the picture
in the window that pops up. You can select and copy it and
then just paste it into your post. BUT you're using Firefox,
right? :-)

If you want to post pictures that you have on your hard drive
you need to get a free image hosting account at someplace like
http://www.photobucket.com

When you upload your photos to photobucket, they'll give you
the link to use in your posts.

Hyperlinks are really easy. Just paste the link to the page
you want into your post. DU will make it a hyperlink
automatically.

If you want to get fancy, or do other stuff with HTML, then
click on the 'HTML lookup table' link when you create a new
post.

I formatted this post with 'Check here if you want to format
your message in plain text. Use for posting code snippets.'
checked so that I could post a URL without DU linkifying it.

4. Here's a site you might want to check out.

It gives example and lets you experiment right there on the same page.

5. You are all GREAT! I'll spend some time on this on Monday --
Edited on Sun Jul-31-05 03:04 PM by Radio_Lady
right now, my husband and I are moving furniture and decorating the grandkids' room -- colonial red/white/and blue, with items we brought from New England to Portland, Oregon. Hated to sell our former home in Massachusetts (it was an early colonial reproduction home, built in the 1950s, with rooms up in the eaves of the house -- neat!). I especially miss the in-ground backyard swimming pool, but we took care of it for thirty years, through five children. That was enough!

I had planned to use the theme of the "Flags and Flowers" in a smaller room in the new home we bought in 1998. Of course, that was all before the attack on NYC in 2001. Put it off because I couldn't think about it emotionally before now.

Maybe I'll get someone to hang the wallpaper, too! I brought so many rolls of it -- Strahan print (now discontinued but still beautiful) with small baskets of flowers, for a softer RWB look.

I love to decorate -- thought about spending $3,000 on Interior Decorating school, but I guess I'll have to do THAT career in my next life!

In peace -- on this hot, but beautiful, summer day,

Radio Lady
