Not quite cold Guinness? Or cold other beer?

Personally I think having beer served near freezing robs the taste out of it. Which is precisely why Coors had that massive marketing campaign about frost brewed, Coors Light tastes like absolute shit.

Now a quality beer should be served between 50 - 55 imo. Or, the temperatute of a nice cool wine cellar, give or take.

21. In defense of Coors:

The temperature of beer served should be in direct ratio with the amount of carbonation. Some beer is made to be tasted at room temperature (low carbonation) and other beers made to drink at colder temperatures (most beers, especially American, were developed after the advent of refrigeration and thus have higher carbonation -- but I'm sure you knew that).

My grandfather allegedly used to drive all the way to Colorado to pack beer back in ice chests while ostensibly trout fishing, and was therefore the only guy on his block to have two refrigerators -- one for food, and one for beer. To be fair, this is info from my dad and not first-hand, and as for as long as I can remember Coors has been available nationwide. Granddad loved the stuff till the day he died, and he had very clear ideas of what beer before refrigeration tasted like, and what it should taste like. It was, in his words, like drinking from the Holy Grail.

Personally, I think it tastes like shit, and Coors Light tastes like dog shit, but what the hell do I know? All I can afford is Keystone Ice :).

...around 55-65F. In other words, NOT ice cold. Some folks will even recommend serving them at room temp.

Summertime, though, is not a time for stouts. It's a time for lighter fares, like hefeweizens and IPAs. I'd recommend a good Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA, or a beautiful Paulaner Hefeweizen.
