I was driving behind someone with a license plate that said

RTWNGER on it. Think it was political or a hockey position?

1. I will help you get to 1,000 if you help me get to 5,000!
I think it was a hockey position.

2. That is what my husband thinks, too.
We are in the right wing cesspool of the country though, which is why I thought it was political. He also had a fish with the cross for the eye on the back. I don't get why the fish has a cross for its eye when the symbol of the fish already stands for Chistianity. Kind of redundant in my opinion.

3. I've seen that one.
And out here, in SoCal Fundieland (Riverside County/North-San-Diego), we have those insipid 'not of this world' stickers that cover up the back of their SUV's, and are getting more elaborate by the day.

I back my progressive Christian friends wholeheartedly - but not one of them has this stupid sticker on their car.

They say that it is the sign of a Religious-Hardrighter; I think that this is the case.

4. Those stickers have not made there way to Ohio yet
Thanks God!! What does 'not of this world' mean?

5. Well, I'll have to ask Rev. Cheesehead, but I think that it is ..
referring to a special ability on their part to get to Heaven as some sort of super-spiritual being.

I'm a Unitarian-Universalist, and I also go to the Church of Religious Science - I just believe in all paths, basically. We are all equally divine.

To me, their sticker reeks of superiority.

8. I've been thinking about going to a UU service.
Rigth now I am going to a Swedenborgian church. They sound similar. I have never heard of Church of Religious Science. What is that about?

9. We believe in all paths to Spirit.
Edited on Sat Jul-30-05 11:47 PM by Maat
We believe that Spirit is both within and without.

And that each human being is deserving of love, respect, and an abundant life.

Unity is Religious Science with a Christian flavor.

For more info:

www.rsintl.org - go to Frequently Asked Questions.

I use their style of prayer in the UU moment of silence.

I like Religious Science for the positive thinking and spirituality part, and UU for the environment of fellow progressives and social activists.

Unity, Religious Science and Divine Science are called New Thought Churches, and synthesized many world religions' beliefs. I'm reminded sometimes of Hinduism and Sufism sometimes.

www.beliefnet.com has it all summarized in their 'New Thought' section.

So, I'm a UUer of the New Thought variety.

On edit:
Another thing I love about UU. Any congregant that wants to speak at the service can do so! The kids are there for the first part of the service, and then get 'sung out' to Religious Ed; my kid loves that. Reading them a story is part of the service. It is so cool!

6. Definitely political, in my book!
Is there such a position in the game of hockey? I have no idea, myself...

7. I have no idea but my husband argued his case well in the car this
afternoon and he is a big hockey fan. Although hew may have just been doing that to get a rise out of me....he thinks it is funny when I get going on the "Christian" right. We actually saw the driver turn around and hit one of the kids in the back while we were stopped at a light!
