1. It's the Roman Catholic "Hail Mary" prayer.
Hail Mary, full of grace.
The lord is with thee.
Blessed is the fuit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God
Pray for us sinners
Now, and at the hour of our death.
Amen

14. I grew up catholic and have said thousands of Hail Mary's,
and I never knew. It sounds so much better sung in another language than chanted in english. :hi:

5. This is The Hail Mary Not Ave Maria
Edited on Sun Jul-31-05 12:20 PM by Ivote
Amen.

Ave Maria
Gratia plena
Maria, gratia plena
Maria, gratia plena
Ave, ave dominus
Dominus tecum
Benedictatu in mulieribus
Et benedictus
Et benedictus fructus ventris
Ventris tui, Jesus
Ave Maria, gratia plena
Hail Maria
Full of grace
Maria, full of grace
Maria, full of grace
Hail, Hail Lord
The Lord is with thee
Blessed art thou among women
And blessed is
And blessed is the fruit of thy your womb
Of thy womb, Jesus
Hail Maria, full of grace

13. Well my copy of "the Ultimate Fake Book" gives
Ave Maria,
Oh listen to a mortal's prayer,
We pray, Oh Maria a maiden mild,
For Thou can hear us from yonder wild,
And Thou can save us from despair.
Save us from despair!
May we sleep safely in Thy care,
Thy care. Though we be outcase and reviled.
Maiden hear a heart in fervent prayer!
Oh Mother pray hear a suppliant child!
Ave Maria!

15. I like that!
Ok now I am confused.

Theese are the english words for the opera song Ave Maria? Why is everyone else saying it is the Hail Mary?

I like this version of words.
Fake Book is???

23. They assume it's the Hail Mary, because the translation of the title
"Ave, Maria" is "Hail, Mary."

But the words to the lied (song) are a bit different than the prayer, whether in the Latin or the translation:

An earlier post in this thread gave the details:

12. The Arts channel
had Jessey Norman singing Ave Maria one nite. I fell in love with her singing it. I was not able to find her singing, but was able to locate others singing. I have noticed a variation in the words and have not seen a translation until above post.

I want to learn how to sing it. I have a non-vocal version of the music and sheet music for the violin as well. But I wanted the english words so I know what I am singing about.:hi:

Ave Maria you are looking for.

But other composers have used very different versions of the Ave Maria.

26. I have a version of
The Phantom Of The Opera mixed into a techno mix so I would not be surprised if Ave Maria were mixed aswell.

I like cowboy bebop and will have to keep my ears open for the song. Thanks.
