I can understand why it did a big floperoo at the box office. Talk, talk, talk, talk, "Alexander" is sort of...boring, if that's possible.

But Colin Farrell is sure nice to look at. And apparently, Alexander was from Ireland, given his accent. :-)

1. I haven't seen it yet but want to buy it...
is it really as "gay Gay GAY FLAMING OVER THE TOP GAY!!!" as people say it was? (i'm sure it isn't)

PS, go take a look at the reviews for the ALEXANDER dvd on amazon.com

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0009PLLNQ/qid=1122842491/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/002-1824725-1880057?v=glance&s=dvd

it's a virtual gay bashing fest, all these people saying shit like "you should have just made the movie without putting anything gay in it" or even a few "Alexander wasn't gay! why did you ruin a movie by putting that in there???"

ugh, people are so eager all the time to just erase that little detail out of historically important people's lives, or just bury it :grr:

2. They must have watched a different movie than I did.

It's NOT a "big gay movie". There is a lovely scene where Alexander proclaims his lifelong love for Hestaphion, his lover (played by Jared Leto, also stunning looking). They hold hands at one point. And there is a scene of Alexander kissing Hestaphion full on the lips.

There is wide spread belief that Alexander the Great was homosexual. And to Oliver Stone's credit, he didn't ignore that.

3. I thought he was bi...
While it is conceivable that he could have simply been doing his duty, I doubt he'd have been able to sire...I think it was two sons...if the only person he wanted to sleep with was Hephaestion (not sure which of us is spelling the name right). My money's on him being an equal-opportunity sort of person.
