Has the asshole quotient in America risen since Bush became pres?
Darth Kitten has another thread about lack of decency. Has anyone noticed a sharp increase in the number of assholes around the last few years? I don't know if it is just beacause of a local population increase that I have this perception, but it seems the act like an asshole now, think never attitude has spread like the plague lately.

11. It's pathetic trying to argue with those people
Exactly. No original thoughts whatsoever. They've been sadly brainwashed by uber-idiots like Hannity, Coulter, and Limbaugh.

10. I don't know if they believe in primordial sludge.
Which, is denial on their part, because that IS most likely where they came from.

4. Maybe not more, but they are less scared to speak out and
reveal themselves as assholes. Having one of their own in the WH has been an empowering experience for them.

8. Well, of course!!
The asshole quotient went up during reagan and Bush the First's time, went down during Clinton (except the right wing assholes made up for it) and is now going up again.

When republicans are in power, the country becomes less civil, more driven by brain-stem impulses, nastier, more vindictive qand vicious, more selfish, more self-focused, and more banal and less creative.

the assholes have risen to the top

they believe they are invincible

I said in another forum . . .

there are four rules for success in Murka:

1. Lie
2. Cheat
3. Steal
4. Be born incredibly wealthy

Otherwise, you get to spend your life being crapped on by assholes.

15. Yeah see it all the time
The "I got mine jack" air of entitlement.

Greed, dishonesty, extreme hypocricy, selfishness. And a big W sticker on the SUV brands them.

16. Yeah, I thank them for the W sticker
I just think of Pope John Paul, and the story that he told a friend he thought Bush was the Antichrist. So, essentially, all those with the W sticker have the mark.

I don't quite believe all that, but I am thankful they have the sticker so I can get the hell away from them in traffic. It is sort of like the "Here's your sign" bit. The W is their sign.

18. Yes. Self-interest in an environment of fear and chaos.
It was bound to happen.

The good people still exist, but it becomes tougher for the rest of us.
