1. Here are three:
The Virgin Suicied by Jeffery Euginedes, a great fiction book, and The Kidnapper by Robert Bloch.

For non-fiction, Jane Austen; The World of Her Novels by Deidre Le Faye

and the water was too cold to swim in... so I just lived with the cramp. It was worth both parts. Sitting and staying

3. The Dreyfuss Affair: A love story
a great little story about a gay romance between two major-league infielders. Very light, very funny, and pretty short.

18. Cannery Row
“Cannery row in Monterey in California is a poem, a stink, a grating noise, a quality of light, a tone, a habit, nostalgia, a dream.”

Thus starts my favorite single sitting book.
