3. Unless that was a serious question (SPOILER)
The book is different. In it, the boiler in the basement creeps up in pressure. Wassisname forgets to let the steam out, and it blows the hotel up. Scatman's character lives in the book.

Interesting. It's the only time I know of where the book had an explosion and the movie ended on a more downplayed climax. Usually it's the reverse.
