I just adore Tammy Faye.

I watched a documentary on her battle with cancer. I don't care if she is a fundie. She seems like a nice, sweet lady. Very open-minded, very accepting of others...she visited an AIDS hospice and spoke of how many of her friends had died of AIDS. I believe she has previously spoken of when the Christian comminity turned their back on her, it was the Gay community that welcomed her with open arms.

So, at the risk of being flamed, I am saying that I just adore Tammy Faye!

and i've heard the documentary Eyes of Tammy Faye is really very good and makes you quite sympathetic to her. AND she's almost the archetypal 'fag hag' and you have to appreciate that!

9. I wouldn't describe her as a "fundie" - fundies distort the Bible to

suit their own purpose. She may have been one when she was married to Jim Bakker, but it seems she is now truly religious. I guess having to face full on the idea of grace and forgiveness will do that to a person.

I don't agree with her tele-evangelism manipulation of people for money, but she is certainly fascinating.

Though she isn't exactly my cup of tea I have to admire her for gutting out her battlea with cancer. She is much tougher than I ever gave her credit for.

12. My husband worked with PTL - put up their satellite dish

and did other broadcasting stuff for them. He has said that both Tammy Faye and Jim were super, super nice. Sincerely nice, but Jim wasn't all that bright. From where he (my husband) stood and observed, it was the accountants and lawyers who were guiding the swindle.

Anyway, I like her too. She just seems very nice. All the godbothering is annoying, and her voice is grating as hell, but she seems like a genuinely kind person who truly likes people.
