I was told that all TV and radio would go digital in 2006

Around New Year's and I can't use cable anymore and I can throw away my VCR recorder. Is any of this true?

1. I think the deadline has been pushed back to 09 now.

5. I believe your regular TV will still work

At least for the next few years. And the prices of HDTV's are coming down. HD ready TV's are even cheaper.

2. That's something that simply can't be regulated the way they are trying

to go about it. You can't just say "everything must go digital by XXX date". There would be an uprising of the peasants who can't afford to upgrade their cable system and TV to an all digital format.

3. But there is some sort of concerted plot

to accomplish this? I also heard that HDF TV's would remain costly since everyone would have to get one. That struck me as particularly sinister.

back in the late 90's... a novel attempt at trying to get technology moving again.
