Manny Ramierez, the Red Sox huge problem
Is it me, or are Boston Red Sox fan the most gullable fans in the world? Last week, Manny went on a little bender and basically whined and bitched his way into the bad graces of Sox managment and manager Terry Francona. First, there was the face off with Francona, as Manny thought he was going to be given the day off. Then Trot Nixon got hurt, and Francona wanted Manny to play left field. Manny refused saying that Francona gave him the day off and Manny sat. Then the incident behind the scoreboard when he had to "relieve" himself. Then the talk he wanted out of Boston because of his "privacy issue" That got the Sox fans booing him. Then he sat for two more games.
Then miraculously, Manny had a press conference to clear the air. He said he wanted to stay in Boston, loved the fans and wanted to help the team win another championship. The booing by the fans turned to a standing ovation as Sox fans watched Manny drive in the winning run to sweep the Twins. All was forgiven by the gullable Sox fans because Manny had come through.
I wonder how in the hell the Boston media and the Sox fans can forgive Manny when he trashes both the city and the players? Are you that dumb to realize that Manny is a growing cancer on the team? 3 days ago, Manny was trade bait, now he's the best thing to come along since Yaz!!! Pathetic!!!! There are some on the Sox who give all they have for the team, but Manny is looking out for himself. He's a flop in the outfield, dropping easy fly balls, he doesn't try half the time, he's consumed by his own ego, and most of all, he's not a team player. Yet these fans at the park the other day, gave this man a 5 minute standing ovation. Yes Red Sox fans, you are that gullable, and win the booby prize for not realizing that Manny Ramierez is a great hitter, but leaves a lot to be desired as a man.

I wish you freakin' Yankee fans would get another "talking point"...we all know that the Yankees have won 26 Championships.

How did they do against Boston in the playoffs last year??
(Choke, cough, cough...choke.)

This part is such a crock: (Sorry)

"Yes Red Sox fans, you are that gullable, and win the booby prize for not realizing that Manny Ramierez is a great hitter, but leaves a lot to be desired as a man"

If George Steinbrenner would have had the need for him, he would have shelled out that dough, and the people of New York would have welcomed him with open arms. Like Yankee fans have some higher moral criteria for the players they support? Come on.

P.S. Welcome to DU.

But I haven't a clue what that post is supposed to convey. Sorry.

Are you saying that anyone could play left field? Because it that's what you're saying, then tell me why the Yanks can't find someone to do it on a regular basis. Or are middle infielders always good Left Fielders?

The won seven in a row, from 1967 through 1973. They were the greatest college basketball power EVER.

But now they suck. What's the difference?

Which is why I'm still boggled at the santimonious diatribes spewed when talking about Pete Rose.

Ty Cobb is in, and he is known as one of the worst individuals to ever walk this earth. But his stats are sick.

this is just part of the normal season. Except for last year, seems that about once every year Manny gets a wild hair across his a$$ about something - the media goes beserk, the fans waffle and.....

it all dies down when Manny quits "being Manny"

just a year in the life of a red sox fan

Yea, he's a flake - but he's OUR FLAKE and we LOVE HIM!!!!!!!!!!

"They kicked dirt on me. They had the gravestone out. But I wasn't going to let that ruin it for me because all I've ever wanted to be was a ballplayer," Giambi said of the negative reaction from fans after his steroid revelations in leaked grand jury testimony.

We'll keep applauding Manny as long as he's a Red Sox and as long as he continues to win us games. You can continue to applaud your stable of overpaid, over-rated prima donnas for as long as you'd like. It's a free country.

I would say "yes".
