People PAY to go to the top of the eiffel tower
in VEGAS...how stupid is that? We just got back from Vegas (we stayed at the Paris ...comped 3 nights ..) The whole town is nothing more than a glitzy/gaudy mall with gambling..

We took our son & his fiancee out to dinner, and he said "Mom, are you & Dad gonna go to the top of the tower..it only costs $8 a person"..

No way in HELL would I pay any amount to ride an elevator to the top of anything in vegas..just to look out at a valley of lights:)

The Paris was ok, but nothing THAT great..the steakhouse was totally a la carte..$8 for a lukewarm baked potato,... $43 for a filet(but it was delishhhhh)

color me ..jaded & cynical

1. This is why I won't go to Las Vegas
If I want to see Paris or Venice or even NYC I'll go visit those cities and not some silly hotel made to be like that city.

I don't want to be critical of those who go to vegas because lets face it - it's a damn cheap vacation (provided you don't get hooked on the slots), but I'm not much of a gambler and the whole place just seems too cheesy for me

2. We get comps, ( I play the slots)
this time my husband was going to a trade show, so our son & fiancee used the free room we got at Sam's Town, and we stayed at the free rooms at the Paris from my husband's job..

I spent the entire day Saturday, snoozing in the room while he went to the trade show..

Did not gamble at the Paris..their slots were mostly dollar slots and I gave them up a few years ago..

I did win $352.00 on a penny slot at Sams..:)

3. I would think at night the view of the lights would be neat
Did you go downtown and see the laser light show on Fremont St? That's my favorite thing in Vegas.

That laser show is one of the neatest things I have ever seen. And it's free.

11. Las Vegas is the most perfect representation of America that exists.
A wasteland with no culture of its own, that cynically exploits other cultures in the name of commercialism and entertainment; a vast and gaudy monument to shallow materialism and the fever dream of striking it rich with a minimum of effort...if America has a soul, it probably looks a lot like Vegas.

12. The reason the fancy-restaurant food is so expensive
in the casinos is so that the folks who get comped add up the prices and think they're getting a steal.

At least according to a friend who worked in management at Ceasar's in AC.
