So far so good...I guess.
I have to say, I'm not very relieved. Instead, I'm frustrated, angry, tired, resentful, and starting to get depressed.

The good news is, no cancer in the tissue that was biopsied. The bad news is, my esophagitis is as bad as it gets, and there's so much inflammation and damage in my esophagus, that the doctor can't even get to the tissue he's really concerned about. So we're hoping that in six weeks we can get things under control enough that I can have another round of biopsies.

So, I'm really back where I started, except I have at least 6 weeks to wait before I know what's going on.

In the meantime, they're trying to get my insurance company to approve the camera pill so we can figure out what's going on in the small intestine.

Then we'll worry about the colon.

So, while I didn't get the worst news today, I'm still at the beginning of a very long discovery process and I'm very sick.

On top of that, my husband scheduled band practice for 4 pm. So, he learns I'm taking the whole day off work because of my doctor's appointment and thinks, "Great, she can watch the baby and I can just do whatever the fuck I want." Sometimes I think he's such a jerk. I'm seriously about to start saving up for a divorce.

2. Oh you poor woman.
I'm shocked at your husband's insensitivity. And I am so sorry that you weren't able to definitively rule anything out today.

We're here when you need to vent.

7. Just hang in there
That is GOOD NEWS that it wasn't cancer. Have them use the camera pill no matter what the insurance company says. You can deal with the insurance company later if they won't cover it. You have to know what you are dealing with.

Best wishes and good thoughts to you for a speedy recovery

Are those your kitties in the sig line? If so, time for a great big cat fix... purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... they usually know when their humans need them. We had one once who went right to the spot of Mom's facial surgery and started licking it!

10. Hang in there, sweetie
Just found this thread-- I've been worrying about you. Glad that the news so far is good, but the whole process sounds very frightening and frustrating.

Read that husband the riot act!!-- sometimes men need a lot of training. Make him understand what you need from him.

18. I talked to him last night.
I asked him if he was afraid that it would be too hard to take care of me and the baby if I were to get very sick. He said, no, he's afraid I'm going to die. So, I just think he's having a hard time dealing. I understand.

:(

Thanks, latebloomer.

11. Sweetheart, my heart goes out to you. I've been dealing with
esophageal issues for the past five years. I wish I could have bright side news, but I'm still enmeshed in it. I've had two Nissen Fundops and a barrage of medications along with bi-annual biopsies because there is always that risk of cancer...If you ever need to talk to somebody, PM me and I'll give you my phone number. It's devastating, horrible and even rougher when you're loved ones aren't as supportive as they should be.

I've been there and I hurt for you.

Hugs, Laura

Yeah, it sucks, doesn't it? The constant testing, the ever-increasing risk. I just wish we could fix it.

Thanks for your post.

26. That's nice to hear.
It's good when the husband cooks! I'm glad there was some resolution there for you.

No chance of dinner at our house tonight - mine has a gig that's three hours away, so he's leaving at 3:00 this afternoon and won't be home until 4:00 tomorrow morning. These late-night drives of his always cause me to fret. But it's bread on the table, and we've been together long enough now that I can tell the difference between a legitimate worry and elective fretting.

I hope you're feeling well soon. :hi:

17. I'm very sorry for you. The uncertainty is worst.
Six weeks is quite some time. And your unconsiderate husband really makes me angry (very much reminds me of my SO... who is embarrassed by my having to use a crutch now).

Let me send you a  , even if you don't know me. I'm sending my very best wishes.

23. Thanks.
My husband is just scared and trying to fill up all his time. I'm a workaholic myself, so I do understand. I just get mad at him sometimes because I can't count on him as much as I wish I could. But I know from experience that he comes through when it really counts.

:)

29. If he comes through when it really counts that's good. But what's not
good is waiting for those emergencies... What's not good is that many men have so little access to their own feelings that they aren't even trying to understand how others feel. You should have him around you to-day to comfort you.

21. Wow... tough day
Honey, what is making your esophogus so inflamed? Can they treat that so that they can get a better sample. Sounds like a really long progess, but I just can't imagine how tough life would be with an inflamed esophogus. YIKES!

I'm also sorry that hubby is giving you a hard time. Shake him... that's what I'm thinking of doing to my unofficially adopted son.

27. Hey Rene
Just saw this thread. Sorry they didn't nail things down, but no cancer cells in the biopsy is good news, even if the other stuff isn't. I hope the other stuff ends up okay. :loveya:

As far as the stuff with your husband goes, I think that sometimes they really just don't understand how horrible and scared you feel. No matter how much you talk about being sick, I think sometimes it's easiest for them to block it out. It might be the only way they can deal with it. Just a theory. ;-)
