I have been looking for a small, adult, female dog preferably from a shelter/rescue. The past 2-years my little female Shi Tzu's at the ripe old age of 16yrs went on to doggie heaven and my spouse and I have missed our 2-little clowns, who have traveled far and wide with us and also been wonderful, well mannered bed companions.
We loved them dearly yet they required daily grooming and they detested their semi-annual vists to the groomers. I was looking for an adult dog that could deal with a couple of old farts; preferably with short hair, and standing ears, small enough to travel with and small enough for me to pick-up if necessary......I got to use to my 10-lb Shi Tzu's
While still in the process of looking, my young neighbor knocked on my door and said she was told that I was looking for a small dog and she needed to find a home for her 10-month old cocker pup. Now she had to find a new home for this pup because she has a baby girl of 11-months and a boy of 4. She said her son was hurting the puppy and she was unable to get through to him that he couldn't lead the dog around by her hears or lay accross her to get her to stay with him. The named this pup Ear in Italian ....Radachio, Ardachio ???? Because from the story the lady told me, when the pup was born, her mother chewed off half of one ear......so they named her Ear in Italian??? The young boy is a little hyper but doesn't appear to be mean, just made me wonder if he got close to a pair of scissors?
Although I didn't want another dog that was this much bigger than my Shi Tzu's and that required even more grooming than they did, somehow our children and grandchildren though that it was fate that sent this little black bundle to our house. The neighbor lady said for us to take her for a week or so and see how she got along with our grandchildren and their dogs. After 1-day, our grandchildren informed us that no way should be give her back, she seemed perfect for us all.
Needless to say, no dog of ours is going to be named "ear," no matter what language is used. She has since been re-named Lulu. It sure didn't take long for Lulu to accept her new name, her new bed, her new housemate Belle, an 8-year old Pit Bull, and the 12-year old Noire-cat, all pets of my granddaughters. We are pet sitting while our granddaughter and her parents are working in Russia. Belle is thrilled that she once again has a companion and this one likes to play where the old lady Shi Tzu's just watched her play the fool. .
The young woman and her family are on vacation and I need the correct name for my Veternarian in order to get her chip changed. Anbody HELP.
