Question for people who know something about computers

For the past two or so weeks any photographs I view online are moderately to severely blurry. Pics I view from my personal collection (saved to disc) are normal. Does anybody have an idea what might be the problem and how I could go about fixing it? Thanks in advance for any assistance. :bounce:

1. Try reducing the window size of whatever you're using to view the pics...

At least the online pics. It sounds like you are viewing low resolution pictures in too big of a window, which spreads the picture too thin, so to speak.

2. If the picture is the only thing on the page, then IE might be

automatically resizing the image to fit your screen.

To figure out if this is true, move your mouse pointer off of the image for a couple seconds. Then move your mouse over the image and don't touch the mouse for a couple seconds... if you see a box with arrows coming off of it in the lower right part of the picture, click that and it will expand the image.

What internet service do you use? If it's something like NetZero, they do some crazy things to speed up your internet connection by lowering the quality of images.

3. I have MSN

And I'm having a problem with all pics that show up on any page--avatars, photos in someone's post, photos on a page when I'm surfing (single or multiple, with or without text), etc. What's weird is that the problem only started a few weeks ago and I haven't had any change in service, haven't changed my screen resolution, etc. :shrug:

4. By 'blurry', what do you mean?

Attempt to explain how it's displayed differently than it should be.

Also, go to a website that has a blurry picture on it, right click on it and choose "properties"

Let me know what the address (url) of the picture is, as well as what size and dimension. A good example would be something on the Yahoo homepage (like the 'yahoo' logo at the top of the page) if that's blurry for you.

5. Sort of like

As if somebody didn't clean a window for a year or so, or smeared Crisco over it then tried to view a photo through it. Or perhaps like an incredibly nearsighted person is looking at it without his eyeglasses. Instead of the pic being crisp/clear and looking ordinary as it does when I view it from my album on my computer, it looks like a big blur. I can make out what it is supposed to be, particularly if it is a big photo, but the details are lost.

of whether or not it's your computer or something on your internet connection.

All of the avatars here at DU that are photographs, any photos people put in their posts, any photos I look up online. It's not just one page or a few sites.

10. Grrr, Arrrgh

I was so hopeful when I went to the site. It sounded exactly like the solution to my problem. I turned off the accelerator, but no change. I even went offline and restarted MSN but no change. :banghead:

11. Try to go into your internent options and delete your cache

Or go to a site you have never been to before.
For example:

Maybe it's just loading old images.
