Will anybody really buy a Chinese laptop?
Not me. Intellectual property pirates.
Edit for clarity: I mean a Chinese COMPANY'S laptop.

7. I guess. It's kind of splitting hairs, but I see what you mean. |
|
At least if Dell gives me the run-around on something, I know I can drive up to their front door and fling the thing through some plate glass. ;)

I'm very concerned about the strategic implications of the Chinese purchasing US assets. I'm just not comfortable with it.

9. True. Remember when a Japanese firm bought Rockefeller Center? |
|
People lost their minds! And Japan is friendly toward us for the most part. Chinese want to buy an oil company? Eh, shrug...
Sigh...it has become bizarro-word.

10. That's my train of thought... |
|
...in the 80's Japan was buying up EVERYTHING in sight. And they're an ally.
China is still a dangerous adversary in my book, with no regard for human rights, the environment, democracy or open commerce. :scared:

11. I'm following you, now. |

And I agree, especially if the Chinese government is a major owner of the "corporation".

14. sounds a lot like the US |
|
or at least the government that is running it now. Maybe that's why the 'Sell-them-everything-now" floodgates have been opened. The people running the US don't see the Chinese as doing any THAT bad.
They said they would pe-emptively attack (with nuclear weapons) the US if we fiddled with Taiwan trying to become independent. Thanks, BFEE

13. To me, 'made in China' and 'owned by China' are very different. |
