Who Loves Creepy Megachurches?
Stadium crowds, thousands of rabid devotees, all chugging Jesus like Kool-Aid. Should you be afraid?

big churches so they can remain somewhat anonymous. I don't really have a problem with them, unless they are cult-ish.

12. About 2 years ago one of theese warehouse churches
moved in across the street from me. They just had 3 weekends of carwashes and a rummage sale. To pay for the ongoing renovation to the building.

And yes this church got political at election time.

10. Why I intensly dislike Big Church
because they have the audacity to tell me that my grandfather and grandmother, who did nothing but raise 5 great kids, work all their lives, one farming and manufacturing, one in a pickle factory, and go to a Little Church, their whole lives, are burning in hell, because they were the wrong sort of Christians.

Won't they be surprised when judgement days comes and Jesus doesn't want anything to do with them.

16. That is just wrong period. Big or little church!
I don't have a problem with big churches. Unless they are like a cult, which several of the ones near me, aren't.

15. it's a strange shift in culture, really
the puritans (the original freepers) were known for building many small, humble churches, while the Anglicans, Lutherans and Catholics built huge cathedrals reaching to the sky. Look at Europe, every town worth it's salt had a central, large church, the skyline of London and Paris were dominated by spires, while New York, Boston and Amsterdam had multiple smaller churches that blended into the townscape. Instead of large, central temples, the faith was more diversified among the population. Now the Evangelical Protestants are trending the other way, growing into the same large monoliths they worked so hard, and paid such a price, to break away from.

an interesting sociological trend, isn't it?
