Why, thank you so much, my dear Tom Kitten! This is one grand picture...I've seen fish like these at the Monterey Bay Aquarium...but I don't remember if they were smelt or something else...But they were small and shiny, and they would swim around all the time...Schooling indeed!

Here periodically they run up up some of the rivers around here and spawn. I've heard they teem so thick you just dip a bucket into the water, and it fills up with them.

And oh yes, since you posted again...can't forget to give you more smelt!?
