Post lyrics to your favorite Anne Murray song here!
I'll always remember the song they were playin'
The first time we danced and I knew
As we swayed to the music and held to each other
I fell in love with you

CHORUS
Could I have this dance for the rest of my life
Would you be my partner every night
When we're together it feels so right
Could I have this dance for the rest of my life

I'll always remember that magic moment
When I held you close to me
As we moved together, I knew forever
You're all I'll ever need.

CHORUS

CHORUS

1. Snowbird
Beneath this snowy mantle cold and clean
The unborn grass lies waiting for its coat to turn to green
The snowbird sings the song he always sings
And speaks to me of flowers that will bloom again in spring

<snip>

Chorus
Spread your tiny wings and fly away
And take the snow back with you
Where it came from on that day
The one I love forever is untrue
And if I could you know that I would
Fly away with you

3. Snowbird

Anne Murray
Written by Gene MacLellan

Peaked at # 8 in 1970

Beneath this snowy mantle cold and clean
The unborn grass lies waiting for its coat to turn to green
The snowbird sings the song he always sings
And speaks to me of flowers that will bloom again in spring

When I was young my heart was young then, too
Anything that it would tell me, that's the thing that I would do
But now I feel such emptiness within
For the thing that I want most in life's the thing that I can't win

CHORUS
Spread your tiny wings and fly away
And take the snow back with you
Where it came from on that day
The one I love forever is untrue
And if I could you know that I would
Fly away with you

The breeze along the river seems to say
That he'll only break my heart again should I decide to stay
So, little snowbird, take me with you when you go
To that land of gentle breezes where the peaceful waters flow

CHORUS

Yeah, if I could I know that I would fl-y-y-y-y away with you

12. Nothing at all wrong with a beautiful voice. I LOVE "Snowbird."
Family had just moved to Arizona from Montana when it came out; I was 10.

Such bittersweet memories it invokes...

2. You Needed Me

-Artist: Anne Murray
-peak Billboard position # 1 in 1978
-Words and Music by Randy Goodrum

I cried a tear, you wiped it dry
I was confused, you cleared my mind
I sold my soul, you bought it back for me
And held me up and gave me dignity
Somehow you needed me

You gave me strength to stand alone again
To face the world out on my own again
You put me high upon a pedestal
So high that I could almost see eternity
You needed me, you needed me

And I can't believe it's you
I can't believe it's true
I needed you and you were there
And I'll never leave, why should I leave?
I'd be a fool 'cause I finally found someone who really cares

You held my hand when it was cold
When I was lost you took me home
You gave me hope when I was at the end
And turned my lies back into truth again
You even called me "friend"

You gave me strength to stand alone again
To face the world out on my own again
You put me high upon a pedestal
So high that I could almost see eternity
You needed me, you needed me

You needed me, you needed me

6. Pisces, Virgo rising...
DANNY'S SONG Anne Murray, 1973 (#7)
written by Kenny Loggins

PEOPLE SMILE AND TELL ME I'M THE LUCKY ONE
AND WE'VE JUST BEGUN, THINK I'M GONNA HAVE A SON
HE WILL BE LIKE SHE AND ME, AS FREE AS A DOVE
CONCEIVED IN LOVE, SUN IS GONNA SHINE ABOVE

CHORUS (after each verse):

AND EVEN THOUGH WE AIN'T GOT MONEY
I'M SO IN LOVE WITH YOU HONEY
AND EVERYTHING WILL BRING A CHAIN OF LOVE
AND IN THE MORNING WHEN I RISE
YOU BRING A TEAR OF JOY TO MY EYES
AND TELL ME EVERYTHING IS GONNA BE ALL RIGHT

SEEMS AS THOUGH A MONTH AGO I WAS BETA CHI
NEVER GOT HIGH, OH I WAS A SORRY GUY
AND NOW A SMILE, A FACE, A GIRL THAT SHARES MY NAME
NOW I'M THROUGH WITH THE GAME
THIS BOY WILL NEVER BE THE SAME

PISCES, VIRGO RISING IS A VERY GOOD SIGN
STRONG AND KIND, AND THE LITTLE BOY IS MINE
NOW I SEE A FAMILY WHERE THERE ONCE WAS NONE
NOW WE'VE JUST BEGUN, YEAH, WE'RE GONNA FLY TO THE SUN

LOVE THE GIRL WHO HOLDS THE WORLD IN A PAPER CUP
DRINK IT UP, LOVE HER AND SHE'LL BRING YOU LUCK
AND IF YOU FIND SHE HELPS YOUR MIND, BUDDY, TAKE HER HOME
DON'T YOU LIVE ALONE, TRY TO EARN WHAT LOVERS OWN

17. Excellent song!
The Loggins and Messina version and Anne's are both excellent. Anne is adept at recording songs that are a perfect fit for her to sing. She always sings so beautifully. I hear how people sing today on the radio, even on some of the awful music contest shows. They have to get all weird with the vibrato and the histrionics. Anne sings so sweetly and naturally that songs she did decades ago are still breaths of fresh air

11. Hippo in the Bath Tub
Anne Murray has the best kid album EVER!

Hey Daddy! There's a dragon in the driveway
And momma there's a grizzly on the lawn!
You better come, quick! 'Cause there's a hippo in the bathtub,
And he's goin' down the drain -- oh no, he's gone!

Well the minds of little children,
They go round and round and round.
And they're hearing giant's footsteps
When I never hear a sound.
I just hear ...

Hey Daddy! There's a dragon in the driveway
And momma there's a grizzly on the lawn!
You better come, quick! 'Cause there's a hippo in the bathtub,
And he's goin' down the drain -- oh no, he's gone!

And he's goin' down the drain -- oh no, he's gone!

Well you never know if they really saw
All the things they'd have you believe.
But if there's dragons in this neighbourhood,
Then we're gonna leave sayin' ...

Hey Daddy! There's a dragon in the driveway
And momma there's a grizzly on the lawn!
You better come, quick! 'Cause there's a hippo in the bathtub,
And he's goin' down the drain -- oh no, he's gone!

And he's goin' down the drain -- oh no, he's gone!

Even though we ain't got money
I'll rob a bank with you honey
everything will do a something something love.
and in the morning when you rise
I'll point to the rash on your thighs
and tell you baby everthings gonna be alright.

15. A Little Good News
I rolled out this morning
Kids had the mornin' news show on
Bryant Gumbel was talkin' 'bout the fighting in Lebanon
Some senator was squawkin' 'bout the bad economy
It's gonna get worse you see, we need a change in policy

There's a local paper rolled up in a rubber band
One more sad story's one more than I can stand
Just once how I'd like to see the headline say
"Not much to print today, can't find nothin' bad to say", because

Nobody robbed a liquor store on the lower part of town
Nobody OD'ed, nobody burned a single buildin' down
Nobody fired a shot in anger, nobody had to die in vain
We sure could use a little good news today

I'll come home this evenin'
I'll bet that the news will be the same
Somebody takes a hostage, somebody steals a plane
How I wanna hear the anchor man talk about a county fair
And how we cleaned up the air, how everybody learned to care
Whoa, tell me

Nobody was assassinated in the whole Third World today
And in the streets of Ireland, all the children had to do was play
And everybody loves everybody in the good old USA
We sure could use a little good news today

Nobody robbed a liquor store on the lower part of town
Nobody OD'ed, nobody burned a single buildin' down
FADE
Nobody fired a shot in anger, nobody had to die in vain
We sure could use a little good news today
