This cell phone thing is getting out of hand.
I was just at an intersection. Lady pulls up behind me, she's on the phone. Then two cars to the left, both on the phone. Then, enter stage left, a guy in the crosswalk, ON THE PHONE!!!

ARRRGGGG!!!!

3. I can remember
being perfectly happy and leading a full life before cells phones came along. And I've never talked on my cell phone while driving, and doubt if I've lost anything by not doing so. Why can't other people do the same? What do they think they are going to miss?:banghead:

8. Some of us need to talk on the phone while driving/walking.
And many have long commutes. It's a whole hour of the day each way to catch up with my sister, friends, or take calls from clients. As soon as I get home - I'm swamped with things that need to be done. My commute is the one time of the day to talk with them.

There are times I wish that I didn't have one. But for the most part, I can't imagine life without one. I'm in sales, travel quite a bit and tons of time in my car. What am I supposed to do ?

13. Since I almost got
wiped out at an intersection by a woman on a cell phone--I say pull over and talk. I realize that those of you who have long commutes or who drive a lot for their job need to do this. But--it's still a distraction.:dilemma:

21. I wear a headset when I talk on the cell in my car
It feels like I am being a better dirver when I have both hands on the wheel.

I worked with a lady back when portable phones first came out who had a car phone that was mounted into the dashboard of her car and the controls were on the radio dials. So when she was on the phone, she talked to her dashboard. She said she got more funny looks from other drivers. LOL

30. I've been using hands free in my car for years.
I probably should have prefaced that, but it's not always possible. Sometimes, if the other party complains about the clarity, you have to pick up. No way my arse is pulling over on the interstate doin' 80 just to make a call when there is little traffic for 30 miles.

I'm just saying....in a weird kind of NRA smack kind of way....you can take my cell phone (on drives) when you pry it from my cold dead hands.

Don't mess with my right to communicate. Do you seriously want people pulled over for using a cell phone in a vehicle?

Wanna talk about some sort of compromise on "hands free" when driving? OK. Otherwise...no effin deal.

5. Doesn't anyone know how to use the speaker phone on the things.
I never drive with my phone unless I use the speaker phone.

It's much safer.

6. I've often wondered
what did people do before there were cell phones? Then I listen to them talk a bit, and I know that thinking intelligently was waaaaay down the list.

<mouth to brain: can you hear me now?>
<huh,? what?, let me get back to you>
<what? I said I'll call you back>

7. I don't know why this bothers me but...
Everyone walking around with cell phones clipped to their hips. I keep mine in my pocket hidden from view. I don't know if they think this makes them look cool: "Hey, look at me! I got a cell phone!" or what, but I usually just shake my head and laugh at them. Keeps me in stiches most of the time, let me tell ya!

12. I don't have a cell phone, personally.
I see them as electronic leashes. No thanks. Anyone who needs to can get in touch with me via landline or email, which ought to be good enough. And it's really fucking disconcerting to be out somewhere and hear someone, in public, nonchalantly having what OUGHT to be a private conversation on a cellphone.

14. You know what I do when I'm walking and see that.
I sometimes backtrack and look like I'm taking the license plate of the fool on the phone.
I make sure they really see me memorize the number. Once I took out a notepad.

It gives me some pleasure. :)

Yes they have their uses, but the most often use seems to be an excuse to be rude and/or reckless.

19. I don't own one.
I don't have anyone I need to talk to that bad. I can manage to live my life without running my mouth 24/7.
All I ask is if you are talking on the phone, move to the far right on the interstate. I don't think you have noticed yet but you are NOT skilled at multitasking and you tend to pay little attention to your driving. I know you THINK you drive OK but you don't. You can't hold a constant speed, you tend to stay in the passing lane going under the limit.

20. Don't have one, don't want one.
One convenience store I frequent has a great sign at the register. "If you are on your phone please step aside. We'll be happy to help you when you have the time." Great stuff. Can you stop talking and pay attention to the person in front of you for two minutes? Is that too much to ask?

23. That's awesome
I'm a cashier at a grocery store and find people who can't give me a cell phone-free minute of their precious time to ring up and bag their stuff to be some of the rudest folks out there. I mean, c'mon, if that's acceptable shouldn't I be able to read a good book while I ring up their stuff and not have to make any small talk or give them any recognition that they're there? To me, getting off the phone while you're dealing with people in real-life is just common courtesy.

Love it ... or rather hate it, cell phones that is - hell, phones in general. Mine was a gift from my mother, because I never call her. Yes, even my own mother. I'm a bad son.
