Dropped my laptop. Won't boot. I get a "memory write/rewrite failure"
message. Is my hard drive data unretrievable? (gulp)

1. no way to tell yet
but you might have unseated some memory.

If you can, open it up and make sure all the little memory cards are properly seated.

3. No. Just take it to a shop and have them see if everything
is connected. Or better yet, do you have a bootdisk?

6. Definitely sounds like the memory.
Should snap back into place easy enough. And while you have the case open, might as well check all the other connections inside while you are at it, just in case any cables, jumpers, etc. might have been knocked loose in the fall.
