So I am dating a Republican...

So, at last, the girl who everyone thought I should go out with in High School is now dating me. Heres the kicker: in high school we were both Republicans, now I am not. In fact, I am pretty hard left on most issues. I think I have an unofficial officers position in the UCSB campus democrats. She is the senior copy editor for the Cal Patriot (the conservative magazine in UC Berkeley). Politically, we should be tearing eachother apart. However, this doesnt seem to be the case.

It is a very strange relationship indeed. I call her my Rapture Right, and I am her hippy liberal. And even though I have become a pariah of my organization, I really could care less. Politics rarely come up in our day-to-day conversations (although I could use a some ammunition on Bush's tax cut if anyone wants to help me out). I hope everyone would get teh chance to date one from the other side. Its sort of like living a bad romeo and julliette play in real time.

Many of the folks who froth at the mouth about "defending marriage" should look at those folks and then note how many times THEY have been divorced.

Yes, similar interests to an extent is good. But loving, trust, and caring works out for the true long term. I'm sorry our "society" puts wealth about all other things; many divorces happen BECAUSE one partner merely lost a job. x( x( x( x( x( x( Fuckin' PATHETIC.
