This is Amazing: The Sidewalk Chalk Guy
A friend sent me these. I sent an e-mail back saying they were photoshopped or something but he insist's he's seen this guy in Picadilly Circus. I'm posting a couple of the pictures and a link to the rest..

1. I saw those in an email recently
Apparently camera angles are what make the art look 3-D. The email I received had one pic of the female in the pool at the wrong angle to show what it really looks like.

6. There are a couple people who do these every year
at SCAD's sidewalk art competition. Part of the actual drawings is photographing them or getting back to look at them from a special angle. If you are up close or on top of them, they actually don't look like more than a bunch of smears and you can't appreciate the perspective.

That sand art guy is incredible and that link you posted China_cat will dispell any naysayers I have come across it's nice to see a photo of the work with the improper perspective, shows just how good these guys are...

9. So, what's the method?
Does he have some sort of a slide projector so he can trace the images? Does he make a template? Or does he just constantly run back and forth between the "viewpoint" and the art area?

Nevertheless, quite impressive works. Too bad there's not much permanence to them!
