The older I get, the more insane people I come across

Sometimes I wonder....but without the ability to have true control groups, running the data is mostly conjecture and guesswork.

Getting outside your peer group you see more of this. But then when you come back you see some of your family and peers in a different light too. And then there is that mirror...

The people that generally can get the point before veering off maybe into some mistake are the vast majority, including myself. The real wackos get noting and can't be reasoned with about anything. I have met certifiables and people lost in their particular belief world. the first are emotionless which is both eerie and sort of peaceful in a way. The second sort are annoying enthusiasts who have to come down from their perpetual emotion trip before there is any dealing with their respective fantasies. They never seem to or else they harden themselves with self assurance strategies and groupthink.

The second type is much more annoying and boring although less likely to put an ax in your skull without warning.

The disconnect in public information for the masses is so poisoned that it is de facto an undiagnosed mental illness for anyone casually trusting in it. Even those who know what is happening get caught up in it.

Your analysis of the two types of insane people (and I realize that using the word insane isn't a good word here, but what the hell, we're using it) is spot on: the psychotics, and the deluded enthusiast. I'd put the freepers, fundies, promise keepers, etc. in the second category (and even some liberals).

Your last three sentences are excellent, especially the prepenultimate one: much more annoying and boring although less likely to put an ax in your skull without warning
