SATCHMOFEST in the Big Easy this weekend
Celebrate the life, times and music of Louis Armstrong at the Old Mint at the corner of Decatur and Esplanade.

Music and food and seminars:

- Jazz and the American Experience
- Growin up Satchmo
- Armstrong on Film
- The Sweet Sounds of Satchmo Sugarfoot Stomp

Four stages of Music and the best food in the world. Come on down.
Oh, Bourbon Street is just down Esplanade a few blocks, turn left and get lost and have fun.

2. Come on down
No hurricanes in the forecast for the weekend; except those you may choose to imbibe. If I don't get to New Orleans every couple of months, I start having withdrawal symptoms.

3. My favorite time in New Orleans is for the Jazz and Heritage festival.
I just live up the river road in Minneapolis, but I haven't had the opportunity to visit for quite some time. Ooooh- I could go for an oyster Po-boy right about now. :-)

4. I swear I don't work for the Chamber of Commerce but
mark your calendar - 21-23 April 2006, THE FRENCH QUARTER FESTIVAL. Its a Jazz Fest for the locals, its free and its all in the French Quarter; music venues up and down Bourbon and Royal Streets. Jackson Square is crammed with food vendors and the food is too incredibly good to describe. It usually occurs the week before the first jazzfest weekend and its a fantastic time. My favorite is a blackened shrimp po-boy dressed from the Alpine Restaurant on Chartres, with juices dripping on the onion and lettuce and tomato. Oh My! After the next Minnesota winter you'll deserve a trip to the other end of the Mississippi.
