Elgin police still searching for elusive 4-foot-tall ‘monkey’

Elgin continues to go ape over several reports of a sizable monkey, but to this point none has been found.

Elgin police said they have searched the trees and woods without success between the fire station and the Buena Vista Apartments near the Elgin Sports Complex again on Tuesday and Wednesday.

That’s where several unrelated people reported seeing a 4-foot-tall animal, with the first sighting coming around noon on Sunday.

During the interviews, police said the people have not been able to tell them what color the animal is; they just refer to it as a monkey and cannot say what type of monkey it is.
