1. Yeah, it's really quite boring today
:boring:

I'm almost tempted to turn on the TV.

Wanna have a conversation?

Tomorrow is the first day of school. I have been there all week preparing for the students. The only drawback is that I have a new room and I was only able to move in today. It is still so new, I do not have a PA system, fire alarm (they gave me an air horn just in case LOL!) or sprinkler system.
On the other hand, it will have certain positive features: WINDOWS!! I have been assigned to a room without windows for the last three years. I will receive a new computer with a flat screen monitor and a printer all to myself.
I will also have a light load as far as students go: One class of 25, one with 15 and one with 14. The average teacher in my school has 25-30 students per class.

10. The first day of school for you.Is it also the first day for the students?
Way back when I was a student school didn't start until the first Monday after Labor Day.

What grade level do you teach Left_Winger?

12. I'm in the same age group
Edited on Thu Aug-04-05 07:41 PM by Left_Winger
and we began at the same time of year so I was five for the first three weeks of school and seventeen upon graduation.

I teach high school German, levels 1-4. So I have students in grades 9-12. I am a historian by education, but there are so many of us that it is almost impossible to find a job in this field, therefore I make a living teaching one of my skills.

Which profession are you in?

14. ... same age group ...
have you been talking to my friends or did you do an advanced user name search on a 'tell us your age' type of thread.

fess up

Somehow I squeaked by on the language requirements in school but IF I was going to study a language ... it would have been German. I was studying psychology and it would have been interesting to read some of the original works by Freud, Karl Jung, Wilhelm Wundt and William James.

I have some friends here... they told me what they estimated your age was... and we should be within 5-10 years. At this stage in life is that much of a difference?

On edit: I just had an anonymous someone donate a star to me today, so advanced searches have been beyond my abilities to this point.

18. I've also made the acquaintance of one of the people you mentioned
and she seems to be a very nice person. I explained that situation I described to you as I needed a neutral woman's POV concerning that issue.

There are a whole lot of nuts on the net ... if they're not showing up dipped in chocolate by my request from a candy company I don't want any part of them ~

I had working in a different part of the state for several years and didn't know anyone there. So I decided to try and make new friends in the area. I found it unusual to encounter a DUer in that remote part of this red (very red) state, so I took a chance, we began talking and then... CRIPES!

:scared:

BTW: What did you think of my Alice's Restaurant idea?

22. YOUR "Alice's Restaurant idea" was great but it was a clue to your age.
I do hope that you and the DUer were able to part as friends, no harm done and all that.

I know there are other DUers within 50 to 10 miles of me but I haven't met any of the local ones yet. Maybe some of them will come to the Woodstock meet-up.

BTW ~ I fixed that little no local DUer problem yesterday at lunch with a few of my friends. I did something that is not like me at all ~ I announced "This is my birthday month and it's ALL about me this month!" After they got over the *jaw drop* effect I said "If anyone ask - What does Joani want for her birthday tell them this... No gifts! Join DU ~ that's all I ask, that's all I really want."
