Poll question: AFI's top ten male movie stars--who is your favorite
A couple of years ago the American Film Institute had one of those silly polls to choose the top hundred movie stars of all time. Here are the top ten choices for top actor, in order of preference, and your mission if you choose to accept it, is to vote for who you believe should be number one.

Remember this is greatest movie star not greatest actor--there is a difference.

This is equally silly, but hopefully fun.

6. Make your own poll
or pole, if you will. Don't forget Harry Reems and Jamie Gillis. See how many votes you can get before the mods pull the plug.

2. Very close for me between Jimmy Stewart and Chaplin
I like the mix of humor and pathos in the characters that both played.

3. Man, that's quite a list
I will take Bogey - psycho killer (Petrified Forest), suave leading man (Casablanca), heartless gangster (Dead End), world-weary crusading reporter (The Harder They Fall), and Key Largo, Treasure of the Sierra Madre, African Queen, ...

4. That list seems a bit dated
I mean, NO ONE in the past 30 years gets close to these guys? What about Paul Newman or Redford? What about Harrison Ford. That guy's been in the biggest movioes of all time!

5. I was thinking that too
I would certainly put Newman there (8 nominations). And Tim Robbins and Sean Penn may be on the list before they croak too. But it's hard to think of whom to bump from the list as it is.

8. Other: Clint Howard!

No one that damned ugly can be less than a great actor, considering how much he works.

11. Cagney's career spans
Cody Jarrett to George M. Cohan - that's a pretty wide swath, but I will still take Bogey. BTW, Bogey died the day I was born.

13. the AFI's lists
usually tend to films SO OLD that only old people or hardcore film historians have seen them.
