computer in trunk - is there a problem with heat?

If I have to leave my laptop in the trunk, and it is to be 95 degrees tomorrow and car will be in the sun - is this a problem?

what about other electronics?

I don't know for sure, but it can't be good for the laptop.

Can you remove the drive and carry it with you, at least?

If you have to do this, don't use it again until after it has cooled down completely.

Is it better off inside car? under some towels (to hide it)
this is pt cruiser - so it has a high trunk and would be close to the back seat - the metal above it would be the roof - not a trunk lid

12. Well having worked as an IT Manager..

We recommended that our consultants never but their laptops in the trunk when it was even warm. (65 degrees F) Also I dont know about a PT cruiser, but the lapttop can get pretty slammed on a floor. It's better to put it on a seat while in the car and then carry it everywhere you go.

That being said the ones who broke the most laptops were the salespeople and the officers of the company who were consulting with Enron helping to set up internal web-based trading systems.

I knew there was a reason I did'nt like the people from our Houston and Dallas offices. :)

Read the owner's manual, paying particular attention to the little picture of the laptop in a hot area, with a "NO" circle/slash on it.

We have often had to have the bellmen hold out things both prior to and after checking in/out. They are more than happy to do it for a few bucks.

DON'T put it in a locker. It is hot at Disney in August.

fine, they heat up hotter than that while running.

BUT, the LCD panel on the laptop will NOT handle the heat.

I would leave a desktop computer in the trunk under those conditions without worry, but I wouldn't do it with a laptop.

31. How about a cooler?

Get a cheap cooler large enough, a block of ice and garbage bags. Wrap the ice in 3 or 4 garbage bags and do the same with the laptop. If you could find a way to elevate it off the bottom of the cooler, even better.
