I was driving my husband to work this morning, and saw a seagull in the road that had been hit (most likely by a big rig)he was sitting up, and I realized he wasn't dead. There was a guy from the fire department (in front of me) in his personal vehicle, who didn't even stop, it's not like he didn't see it, he made sure to go around it. So, I dropped off my husband, went back, and parked my car right in the road with my four-ways. Another very kind person stopped to help me.
Poor little guy, just a young one, still with brown and black specks. He had a broken wing, and a broken leg. Dropped him off at the PD, and they called wild life rescue.
On my way back home, found another seagull, this one an adult, didn't make it.
I wish people would be a little more carefull, I know avoiding a bird in flight is pretty much impossible, but on this particular strech of road it's pretty bad. Not just seagulls, but other animals are rampant. Racoons, porcupines, fox, cyotes ect.... I have even seen bobcats climbing the chain-link fence that runs along this strech of road.
Anyway, just feeling good that I was able to do something this time around, and wanted to share.
