1. Might I suggest Stitch Witchery?

It's a 1/4" fusible (iron-on) bonding web for zippers, seams, trims, pockets & celtic bias.

I know for a fact that it works for hems (for a while, anyway). ;)

you might want to buy a needle and some thread --it's really not rocket science, or even darning socks!
