Would you take a class that used a Neocon written textbook?

My European history class is going to be using "The Western Heritage" by Donald Kagan, a known PNAC'er. Now, the professor doesn't have to use it to try to make us all neocons, but it is still a little disconcerting. What do you all think?

1. Of Course

The purpose of a university education is to consider all sides.

One of the best courses I ever took was from a drunk poet, another great course from a raging Marxist, a third from a right wing economist.

If the text book is obnoxious, play off it. If it's sympathetic to your view, agree with it.

2. Absolutely.

Sounds like fun. Think of all the minds you'd be able to challenge. I daresay at least a third of the attendants in any history class don't even THINK about challenging what they read in a text. :)

3. Actually, the Western Heritage books were pretty good. We used

them in my Renaissance History class and they were pretty thorough, and I did not notice and clear bias.
