...convinced you to see a movie, regardless of reviews?

I remember seeing the trailer for Tim Burton's "Planet Of The Apes" remake. The last few seconds of the trailer feature a huge gorilla commander bellowing, "BOW YOUR HEAD!". For some reason that stuck in my head as something incredibly cool, and it was enough to convince me to see the movie, which I thought sucked.

Still, 2 seconds of a trailer convinced me to part with 8 dollars. Now that's marketing!

The movie didn't disappoint, either.

when Kurt Russel says blankly, "I'm going to kill them all, sir."

Shouldn't have wasted my money... Still, that was a cool line and Russel was good in the film even if the film stank.

But the trailer for Rushmore and the line(s):
"These are O.R. scrubs."

"Oh, are they?"

Didn't really know anything about the movie or Wes Anderson at the time, but that little exchange convinced me that I had to see that movie.

Wasn't really disappointed either.

7. Catherine Zeta's Jones's Gasp When Zorro Cuts Her Last Shoulder Strap

The only reason I went to see that movie was because of this unknown actress in the trailer -- the only time in my life I have ever done that.

8. Mermaids

The trailer told you nothing about the plot of the movie, but it had some great lines from Cher:

"Charlotte, we're Jewish."

"Don't do anything I wouldn't do...or don't do anything I would."

Plus they played that freakin' "Shoop Shoop" song all the time. I had no choice. I had to go. I had to be the first person in town standing in line to catch the first showing on the first day.

And I didn't regret a moment of it.

The funny thing was, one of my friends at college was JUST like Cher's character in the movie. So when I got back to school, I told her, "We have to go see it together. You'll just die." She also had two sons, whose personalities were remarkably similar to Winona Ryder's and Christina Ricci's in the movie. After we finished watching the movie, she said, "I don't know whether to be offended or flattered, so I'll choose flattered." To which I replied, "That is SO what Cher's character would have done!" To which she replied, "Oh, shut up."
