Restaurant choices
While I was out today, I realized that I pretty much order the same kind of thing when I go to specific fast food places and restaurants. For instance, if I go to Wendy's, I usually have been ordering the fruit bowl (since they came out) and before that, it was the plain chicken sandwich with no lettuce, tomatoes and no cheese. At good Italian restaurants, I usually end up with something like chicken parmesan or capellini pomodoro. How much variety do you ask for in regular dining out? Same thing every time you hit a fast food place? Same thing at franchise restaurants?

1. I like to order something I wouldn't normally make at home,
and to try the house specialties. I love a good rut, too. If I'm in the mood for a spinach salad or a Caesar, I'll have it the same way every time. But I do like to adventure a bit in dining.

2. Is this a stealth chicken thread?
When I go to restaurants, I order beef, fish (any kind, cooked or sushi), shellfish, pork, salad, and every once in a while duck. The only chicken I ever order is Buffalo chicken wings!

3. Naw
I just don't eat beef or pork--most of the time, anyway. I was once more or less a vegetarian, but health reasons now prohibit that much exclusion.

4. fast food? chains?
for the love of mother earth, and your own health,

http://newdream.org/consumer/farmersmarkets.php">eat local and eschew those purveyors of poison and avoid paying into the multi nat corps rape of the planet. i admit that sometimes finding a good organic restaraunt is harder than finding an honest GOPosse member, but you can at least find a locally owned mom and pop place instead of buying into the franchise culture. ok, i'm done, /rant.

5. I have certain places I like to go to for certain things:
a neighborhood pizza place
a neighborhood Mexican when I just have to have spinach enchiladas
that sort of thing

I like to patronize the local folks whenever I can as well. When I go to a new place I will experiment, try the waiter's recommendation, or the legendary special of the house, etc.

Funny, when I want things like nachos or fajitas or other types of Mexican food I will shop around, but my around the corner favorite does these spinach enchiladas that just can't be beat. I won't even try them anywhere else....

I have some sort of standby favorite at most of the national type places, the old dependable that you can count on to be good, so if I have to eat there I know it will be OK.
