I'm poor mainly due to health problems, but I don't have the skill set needed for making vast amounts of money. I am gifted in many ways, but money-making isn't one of them. It seems odd to me that money-making is the most desirable skill in America. I would much rather learn to create beautiful music or a lovely sculpture than get into the cutthroat world of money-making.

People obsessed with making money don't interest me. I find them shallow and boring. They often lack morals.

I wish that my interests coincided with the ability to make money, but they don't. Artists and musicians are not appreciated in our culture. Neither are folks who simply like to learn for the sake of learning.
