The marketing ploy from military recruiters to worry about
Instead of the ol' soft-shoes about patriotism, see-the-world-ism, get-a-good-educationism, they throw off the masks with:

"Volunteer if you don't want to see a draft."

"Sign up now... while you still have a say in it..."

1. The new marketing ploy is the equivalent of
"Your money or your life."

2. An experience I recently had
I was searching for a way to purchase a German language spellchecker for MS Word. There was this Army advertisement right over the link I needed and I could not close it, move it... anything; it did not even disappear after a period of time. As I scrolled down the page the advertisement went with the scroll. (Loud scream sound effects needed here!)

These people must be getting really desperate. Do I sense a slight breeze (read: draft) coming through the windows?
