Well, that was a bust. Two movies in a row I didn't like.

The Aviator and Sideways.

At least Million Dollar Baby was pretty good.

And dammit the first two I mentioned won awards, didn't they? Especially The Aviator, I know. I just don't like Leonardo, I can't help it. I TRIED to get into that movie, and Cate Blanchett was good, she really was. But......eh. It left me sort of cold. I thought they needed about five hundred more shots of Leonardo DiCaprio obsessively feeling the sides of the airplane. :sarcasm:

And Sideways? I know a lot of people liked it. And I liked Virginia Madsen's speech about how she feels about wine. It was halfway moving.

But the Miles character was so totally unlikeable. Ug. And his friend wasn't much better, just seemed like more fun to be around.

I've never seen so much wine fetishist behavior in one movie in my life. When you are fast forwarding through non-dialogue parts, you know it's in trouble with you.

Hopefully my next batch of three will fare better: The Manchurian Candidate, Closer, and Ray. I hope.

Well fuckity fuck fuck. PBS is doing ANOTHER beg-a-thon. No Britcoms tonight. This just sucks.

1. Are you seeing the original Manchurian Candidate
or the remake? If it's the original I don't think that you will be disappointed. I've heard good things about the remake, but I've never seen it so I can't really comment on that.

2. The original.
Husband wants to decide if he wants to buy the original on DVD, but wants to see it first. I heard it was really good, too.

20. IT's a satire....
And knowing that going in will help...

Angela Landsbury is delisiously evil in this one...

3. the original
was a very odd film.

I didn't see the remake, but I heard they changed it so it made more sense, which isn't necessarily a good thing.

4. dammit, no Britcoms, I just hate that.
I was so disappointed when I came home from shopping and turned on my TV for "Dad's Army" and "May to December" and they weren't there. I really love Last of the Summer Wine and I just hate missing it.

so here I sit.

Guess I will go to bed or send some reservation inquiries out to the hotels near Yellowstone for our upcoming trip.

6. OOooo Yellowstone! I was there last summer, it was fantastic!
In fact, I'm wearing my Yellowstone shirt right now, how funny!

I found Black Adder on BBC America, so all is not completely lost. I think I'll get off the computer, go to bed and turn it on in there. Love to fall asleep to Bricoms on the weekend. Oh and I know what you mean, we LOVE those shows.

I guess this means tomorrow night we'll have none and I LOVE the Sunday night lineup. DRAT DRAT DRAT.

Dammit.

16. If you like the original "The Manchurian Candidate"...
... find "Seven Days in May." You'll like that, too. And to get all fired up for it, just Google Edwin Walker and the movie name.

Cheers.

11. I have BBC America, I'm watching Black Adder right now.
Didn't realize they had comedies on. Is it a normal Saturday night thing? If so, that's good to know for when PBS is begging (every other week, practically).

12. Which whiney guy? DiCaprio?
Yeah, I just can't take him for very long. Howard Hughes' story is interesting, but him in the movie kind of ruined it for me.

19. I have no interest in seeing either of those movies
I do have a pile of DVDs I want to get to that were on hold while I studied for the bar. I have the following in my pile:

Closer
The Manchurian Candidate (the original)
The Conversation
Soylent Green
Hero
Seasons 2 and 3 of Curb Your Enthusiasm
A 1,382,038th viewing of Ken Burns's The Civil War
A 8,261st viewing of The Men Who Killed Kennedy

I'd better get started!
